Below are all of nicholas's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.To richard, have through check of aerial installation, how old is the coaxial cable to the aerials?,it might be
worth replacing all coaxial and plugs,i've known corrison to play havoc with installation, but use only
brand new stuff, for other reasons, old cable is also a fire hazard.Corrison can cause phantom signals, and
lots of weird effects.Buy indoor aerial and see what it receives.Try also inclining the aerials,in the vhf days,
in swindon, large parts of the town were affected by polarisiton slant and various channels disappeared
at certain times,hope this helps.

For peter, turn aerial mast around and see if you can receive more inland transmitters, rescan and see,buy
indoor aerial and see what it receives, you might need to relocate to take advantage of local screening, try
inverting the aerial. Is there a church or high building thats reflecting the signal

Hi,i would do a replacement of all the cable and the aerial if it old,try an indoor aerial and scan to see what
the local field strength is like. You could try inverting the aerial, inverted signal was a chronic vhf problem
in areas of swindon.Try aerial at ground level, local buildings can cause chronic moving fading problems
where the signal are bound around like a yo-yo

JC: Hi,loss of signal can be due to inversion loss,in vhf days, swindon was badly affected due to the
signals being twisted by the terain, try inverting the aerial, try at ground level, but perhaps replace all
coax and plugs first.

Hi,it seems lot of the problems here are caused by signal twisting, absolutely chronic in vhf days, try in all
cases, renew all coaxial cable and plugs, get indooor aerial and scan to see what the local field strength
is like, relocating the aerials, try ground level but also inverting the aerials, signal twisting may be yr problem, local high buildings can cancel one or more channels, the signals are bounced around like
a yo-yo.

The answer to most of these problems is check the aerial and coax, renew it,i know a lot of car radios
particulary sony are faulty and lot of stores are selling them cheaply, the design has been cheapened
so much ,most modern units are an apolgy for a car radio.Tandy used to sell a vhf preamp but like
most things,long gone.

john: Hi,this seems to be widespread problem i thought disappeared with vhf tv but possibly has come
back to haunt us.It seems, possibly signal inversion has happened,in all such cases, renew all cable, plugs, etc then try inverting the aerial, try ground level. What happens is the signal field gets twisted
by the local terain and is no longer vertical or horizontal but is moving between the two states, hence
some channels will disappear and reappear at random, nearby high buildings, etc

Hi,i think the easy way to get uk tv abroad is pay someone in the uk to stream it on the internet, the other way
is get the largest dish you and buy a few preamp modules, put say 4 inline and search the sky.The third way
is where someone in the fringe zone will stream it on internet or pay someone to record your programmes
on dvd and send them to you.Possibly if you get a 5metre dish, search the sky for it.I'd be willing to provide the dvds if the
costs were recovered .If you had friends in various countries, you could set up a relay using 5.8ghz video senders.

Hi,the best advice is get the largest dish available, hook up 4 preamp modules and then search, otherwise
get someone to stream via internet or record dvd on payment basis. If you live in spain,go mobile and try and track it the furthest then try bigger dishes, more preamps

Hi,could it be possible that either the freeview unit is faulty or you have chronic overload, try, disconnecting
the aerial connection and seeing what the effect is.I'm line of sight with oxford and have overload on
indoor aerial,hope that helps.
