While I am not very technically astute I do partly understand the points you make. I am self taught electronics and have the backup of my brother working within the telecommunications industry who explains the things I have troubles with but unfortunately he lives in Australia.

Siobhan, - Did I get that right?
I will be receiving my Talk Talk YouView box in about 16/18 days so I don't know if the box has the DVB-T2 MPEG 4. I don't know the answer to your problem - sorry!

Hi all!
I receive digital television both from my local Freeview transmitter and from the Saorview transmitter at Clermont Carn in Co. Louth. From October 2013 when 2RN (the part of RTE that operate the digital transmitters in the Irish Republic) brought on-air the second multiplex located at Clermont Carn the Electronic Programme Guide has been missing on my Toshiba full HD television set for a number of the channels on the multiplex carrying mostly standard definition transmissions.
I have been looking for information as to when 2RN would fix this shortfall. I have just come across this article on a website belonging to an end-user installation company Dalton TV which I believe answers my query.
I hope the information may be of interest to others who have the same problem as I have!

SAORVIEW re-scan final phase

SAORVIEW re-scan final phase
Last October, SAORVIEW asked viewers to re-scan their receivers to prepare for the launch of RT One HD. Customers who have not yet re-scanned will need to do so, in order to ensure continued reception of their RT One, RT Jr and RT One +1 channels. This is because RTE/2RN will cease transmission of the MUX 1 (old) simulcasts of these channels in mid-March (RT Jr and RT One + 1) and early April (RT One S).
From 10am on March 3rd , an on-screen banner will appear within the MUX 1 (old) broadcasts of RT Jr and RT One +1. The banner will contain the following message:
This channel will not be available at this channel number after Tuesday 11th March.
To continue viewing, you will need to re-scan your SAORVIEW equipment.
A similarly worded message will appear on the RT One SD broadcast, from 25th March, advising viewers to re-scan before 2nd April.
The banner will be placed at the lower part of the viewing screen, and will replace the EPG messaging that had been used to date. The banner will not be visible on the MUX 2 transmissions of the three channels affected. So viewers who have already re-scanned will only see it if they scroll to the MUX 1 simulcasts. For viewers who have already re-scanned, and can find the channels as listed on the table below, the message banner can be ignored.
You can download the new channel line-up for our combi boxes (if you havent already done so) free of charge, from our service section, or alternatively we provide a call out service.

Brian!
I sent you a private email regarding this matter. I included correspondence I had with NVTV regarding the re-launch date. This station was on the air in analogue up to DSO from a local transmitter in north-west Belfast.
They (NVTV) had to start to raise the money required to pay the transmission fees to Arqiva I am lead to believe.

Hi PJH!
I live in North Belfast not too far from the former location of NVTV's analogue transmitter at Glencairn Museum (known as the Ballygomartin Transmitter) and while their signal was quite weak I linked the local country music programmes on the station. When DSO was about to happen I had a few emails with Dave Hyndman from NVTV but when I contacted NVTV towards the middle of February I got the impression that Dave Hyndman was possibly no longer there. I do realise that the fees for transmission from the Divis transmitter will be quite hefty.
We'll see what September 2014 brings!

Hi all!
I was just rescanning UHF Channel 30 which carries the LBT multiplex from Divis. I am aware that Northern Visions TV (NVTV) will not be on-air until about September 2014 - due to my understanding funding issues. When it does come on-air it will occupy the No: 8 position on the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). BonanzaBonanza is also carried on this UHF channel EPG position 64. Along with BonanzaBonanza I am receiving another station - POP. My understanding is that this station is only available via satellite - Am I right or have I missed the News regarding this station. I receive it on EPG position 791 as a TV station.

Hi all!
From my understanding of RTE's way forward is to only transmit all of its stations in high definition - this means that all RTE stations will over the next few months will no longer be available in standard definition. It looks like TV3 (Ireland) and its sister station will remain in standard definition but I am not sure about this.
Have a read at this website: SAORVIEW re-scan final phase | Daltontv.ie

I missed this bit.
TV3's sister station is e3. I am unsure if TG4 will only be available in high definition but I suspect it will.

Hi siobhi!
To start: 2RN is the trading name of RTE Transmission Network Ltd, which runs the Republic of Ireland's digital terrestrial television and radio broadcast networks. The Clermont Carn transmitter (located near Dundalk) is the transmitter you (and I) receive Saorview from. At present 2RN is currently preparing this transmitter for HD services by bringing 'on air' the second of two multiplexes located on this transmitter. This is an on-going process and some of the original channels have been given an additional slot where the transmissions are in HD.
Initially, there was only one multiplex transmitting 8 TV channels and 10 radio channels. This multiplex transmitted on the UHF Channel 52. With the preparation for HD (as said earlier) the second multiplex was brought 'on air' last October (2013) on UHF Channel 56.
Have you manually scanned both UHF Channels 52 and 56? I think if you do this you may get all of the channels available from 2RN Saorview. Try it and get back to me.
I know your location is about Crumlin and I live in North Belfast - so generally we are in the same area.
