I did the retune this morning and found I was getting no signal from BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 (no caption), BBC News. I retuned another couple of times to no avail.

I contacted Sony and when I eventually got through, she took me through a factory reset and it all seems to be working okay now.

On a slightly different subject, I notice I am now receiving 129 channels, previously 115. Anybody know what the extra 14 are - a quick glance on the EPG and I can't identify them.

Dave Lindsay: Thank you for your reply of 4 April at 6.45pm. You are right the 14 extra channels are duplicates on 800+ Will they disappear on second switchover date?

The HD channels were seriously breaking up during the day today. I wanted to record a couple of programmes for earlier this evening, but didn't risk HD. However, having come home and checked the HD channels they are now perfect. Does night-time make any difference.

I don't understand muxes or how to determine which channels programmes are on, other than channel 1 for BBC1, channel 2 for BBC2 etc !!!

jb38: I suspect what Barbara is referring to is the i-manual that is built into the Sony television.

When we have the second retune next week, will I have to do a manufacturer's reset again, or will a simple update suffice?

jb38: I don't understand mux channel changes or one disappearing !!

I know last week, I did an autoscan and it didn't work (aerial still plugged in), I wasn't receiving all the channels. I then did a manufacturer's reset and everything was sorted! So would it be quicker to do that first time?

(This time I have made a note of my settings for picture and sound as they all get reset and it takes ages to get them right again!).

JB38: Thank you again for your advice.

What would happen if I just did an update with the aerial still plugged in?

jb38: Your post of 13 April 'Selecting "channel update" can in many cases add to whats already stored in a TV or boxes memory and can, dependant on the box or TV, result in the frequently heard complaint of a person losing channels when the device is switched off over night, this in most cases caused by the devices memory capacity having been exceeded during a re-scan.'

I did a scan this morning with the aerial unplugged and then again with the aerial in. AFAIK everything worked okay, other than I have 3 more channels than I did prior to 4 April (118 now)! Haven't worked out what they are as have been out most of this evening.

This morning I noticed that the pictures on the HD channels were breaking up with the digital recorder switched on (but not as much as prior to today's switchover). I tried it briefly this evening and it seemed to be okay.

jb38: My television signal comes from a block of flats across the road, going underground and then fed into the houses opposite!

I have no idea what is there, I just plug the aerial in from a wall socket.

TBH All seems well, but hopefully tomorrow will be the first evening I will be able to check everything since Wednesday.
