I live in Brighton BN1 and yesterday had a full complement of Freeview channels. Today i could not access most of the Digital and Analogue channels available yesterday.

i retuned my TV and now can only access 1 Analogue channel and 10 Digital channels.

Does anyone know if there are transmitter problems or advise me what I can do to regain the normal service?

Thank you for letting me know, Mike.

Hope they soon sort out the engineering works and we can see all the channels again!

Hi

I've just re-tuned and everything appears to be OK.

Once again, thank you for your help, Mike.

Yesterday, like everyone in Brighton, I found it difficult to view any channels. I managed to re-tune the TV, rearranged the order to what I wanted, which took an hour and then today I turned on the television to find that we had to re-tune again. I have done this but haven't re-numbered the channels to a logical order as it takes so much time.

It would be nice to have a definitive answer as to when the engineering work on the Whitehawk Hill transmitter will be completed so that we know when we can expect a proper service again.

Is there any guarantee that we will be able to receive all the channels we get now when the digital switchover takes place and how long can we expect disruption then?

I know that it's a very large operation, but it is very inconvenient when the service is so badly interrupted for so long.

Thanks for the info, Brian. I can understand the difficulties of working on such a high mast in an exposed site! I, along with everyone else, will have to be patient and won't rearrange the channels until all is up and running properly again.

It's very reassuring that reception will be better after the digital switchover. I wonder whether we'll be able to receive some of the French digital stations which are at present sometimes available when the weather conditions are right? It will be interesting to see - we may be able to access lots more channels - something to which to look forward.

Hi Brian

Unfortunately, when there is a problem, we have to rescan as we cannot access any channels without doing this. (a message keeps appearing on the screen telling us to rescan). So we have to rescan to be able to view any TV at all. However, as the numbers assigned to the channels are illogical and out of sequence we have to renumber them. Until the problems are sorted, we won't be renumbering! Our TV is very difficult to set up after rescanning so we'll just have to use the EPG to find the channels we want! However, this is a small price to pay to get a better service.

Thanks again.

The spooky sounds video sounded very "Delia Derbyshire" and BBC Radiophonic Workshop. I think that some of these spooky sounds were what gave Delia inspiration back in those heady days of the workshop!

Thanks for all the info. Radio still rocks!

Is there a problem with the transmissions from Whitehawk Hill? I can receive pictures but there is no sound. I retuned Freeview but this did not fix the problem. Your help would be appreciated.

jb38: Thank you for your advice. I had already done this and it did not rectify things, However, a few hours later, everything was back to normal, so I don't know what caused the loss of sound as both the tv and surround sound system are in good order!

I have been experiencing reception problems with my tv today. I either get a message on some stations "no signal" or Low Signal Strength" on others. Can you please advise when the engineering works at Whitehawk Hill will be sorted out as it is inconvenient to not be able to watch certain channels, particularly BBC1 and the BBC news channel, which have no signal at all.
