I'm pleased that worked for you, but I've just tried a manual search from 802.0 MHz (CH62) to 850.0 MHz (CH68), which as far as I can go, and get the "no channels found" message.
I'm still none the wiser why some solutions appear to work for some people but not others!

Thanks Dave, but I've already tried a hard reset, with no success.
If the 800 MHz band equates to channels that have already been cleared, I don't know why it seemed to do the trick for geeman?

I've just got my BBC channels back - purely by chance! I don't know if this has anything to do with "800 MHz", or if it's coincidence, but on my Panasonic remote, BBC1 is now 800, BBC2 is 801, BBC3 is 802, BBC News is 803 and BBC4 is 805. Previously they were on 1, 2, 7, 80 and 9 respectively.
I don't know if this is peculiar to my set-up, but offer it as yet another possible solution for those who still can't get these channels.

Dave Lindsay: It says "channel unavailable" in every case using the old station numbers on the remote.
I've just checked again, and the signal strength and quality is still very poor on all BBC channels, with frequent degradation of both sound and picture.
Still far from being a satisfactory situation.

I give up! The BBC channels have now disappeared completely again and ITV1 (but unwatchable) has replaced BBC1 at 800 on my remote.
ITV1 is still perfectly watchable at 3 on the remote, as it always has been.
If there is any logic to any of this, it's beyond me...

KMJ: Thank you so much - I now realise my difficulties were due to unfamiliarity with the "setup" sub-menu on my receiver.
I was concentrating solely on the options available on the "tuning" sub-menu. On checking the "others" sub-menu, I found an "initialize" option which I belatedly realised must be the "factory reset" that some posters (including yourself) were referring to.
That has done the trick.

KMJ: I obviously spoke too soon - not only do all the BBC stations disappear again once the receiver is switched off, they fail to reappear when I repeat the process I successfully followed earlier.
Back to square one!

KMJ: All those selections say "channel unavailable" on the tv screen, and when the "Signal condition" option on the PVR is selected, each shows a strong signal but an empty channel, so the BBC stations are not, for some reason, being stored in memory. Neither is it possible to find them by changing channels when in the "Signal condition" sub-menu.

It's pretty clear that some people are receiving a weak or non-existent signal from Winter Hill on Channel 50 - myself included.
I've just re-tuned an elderly neighbour's digital tv for her and it's now fine. My own tv is a 13 year old (but perfectly adequate up until now) JVC analogue set, used in conjunction with a one-year-old Panasonic Freeview recorder, and no amount of retuning attempts (auto or manual) or removing the aerial, make any difference.
It looks as though I'm going to have to buy a new digital tv, and/or a new aerial, or switch to satellite or cable (none of which I want or feel that I ought to be compelled to do).
It would be useful to know if the age of the tv or aerial is a common denominator amongst those who still can't get BBC tv and radio stations, despite following all the re-tuning advice.
