Just reporting as promised on the response to my complaint to the BBC's fault reporting service at Radio & Television Investigation Service
No surprise at all to receive a standard email message telling me what I already know about what happened on 10/4/13 and my need to retune. No evidence whatsoever that any of the detailed information I provided was even read by them.
I've now ordered an aerial booster to see if that helps. This is starting to feel like getting a bad pint of beer in a pub and being told "Well, nobody else has complained..."

Like David H, I too appear to have solved my problems by the purchase of a aerial amplifier (in my case, a £9.99 Philex SLx). No doubt cheaper than calling on the services of an aerial installer, which would have been the next step, had the amplifier not done the trick.
