It's just a simple cheap SLX DB-T Signal Meter.
It has 4 green lights marked as 80, 70, 60, and 50 dBv.
So if the signal is more than 80 I am going to be unsure I think.

I've just bought my Mum a new TV that has Freeview HD integral.
There doesn't seem that much that's HD though. I only see BBC HD, BBC 1 HD, ITV1 HD.
Why isn't there a Channel 4 HD, and why do Sky still seem to have the monopoly on all the HD channels?
Even Freesat only has a limited number of HD channels. Is this likely to change?

Reception on all BBC channels very poor from Llandonna on 22 August 2016.
Tried retuning Freeview several times but only getting Quality 1 on BBC 1, 2, 4, Red Button and Radio. In fact of all BBC associated channels none are registering above 1.
Why?
All other channels are showing Quality 10, even the Channel 4 stuff which usually suffers more than anything.

We live on the opposite side of the Menai Straits in Penmaenmawr. We receive from Llandonna.
All of the BBC channels seem to be playing up on Freeview and have been doing so for several days now. The screen is continually pixellating. The TV that the problem is occuring on is a Panasonic Vierra obviously with Freeview integral.
It seems strange to me because the BBC channels are usually the strongest signal and never fail. I have two other TVs utilising Freeview in other rooms in the house and nether seems to show the same problem that the "main" lounge TV is experiencing. Of the the other two TVs one has integral Freeview, the other works of a box.
I have attempted retuning several times and it works for a short time and then it starts breaking up again.
All the other channels seem to be OK, even the Channel 4 ones, which are usually prone.
One thing that has been said is that ever since the digital signal was switched on a problem has existed across the Menai. If the sea is calm and the tide high, at certain times of day we evidently experience "signal bounce" which has the similar effect of breaking up the picture. I don't think that this is the case with my current problem with the break up of the BBC channels.
Can you shed any light on this problem?

Given that the signal in Wolverhampton is too strong, I have got a couple of adjustable attenuators that I thought I might need for North Wales where I live, (but didn't!). These are adjustable between 0 to 20dB or so it says on the device.
I also have a simple signal finder. I am assuming that the aerial is pointing the right direction, as I don't really want to climb on the roof at my age, so when I hook up my finder what optimal signal strength should I be looking for?
By the way, when I abandoned using the TV and decided to use my computer to pick up the TV I had no problems whatsoever!
