P
Salisbury (Wiltshire, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Postcode: SP1 3FX
Aerial on roof pointing (I think, not being a geographer) towards the Salisbury antenna which is about 3 miles away.

Has there been any change on the Salisbury Freeview transmitter on channel 60? Until about 2 weeks ago it was fine, but now is almost unusable with a very poor signal. I've tried changing aerial cables with no effect. I have 2 devices daisy-chained - a PVR and the TV, and I have a nasty feeling that the PVR's giving up the ghost. But even with it out of the chain the signal's not good.

Sorry not to have got back after my original post - I should change my settings to daily messages!

I've done several retunes on both the TV and the PVR but can't remember when the last one was, but probably around 14th when I posted. As I didn't know about the atmospheric problems I haven't tried again since, and won't have time today.

I've taken the PVR completely out of the loop, and the TV is working OK. But not exactly satisfactory if I want to record a C4 programme! As I'm about to move (closer to the transmitter in SP2) there's not much point in spending loads of time & money on it. But from Hani's comments it seems we might have the same problem after moving :(

We're not using HD, just ordinary steam TV.

Is it a coincidence that I've just had a card pushed through my door from a crowd called "at800" claiming to fix TV interference problems? They say they're set up "under government direction", whatever that may mean. Are they legit?

Thanks Mike,

Good to know that not all stuff pushed trough the letterbox is total spam. But I'm in a rented house and moving out soon, so it's a bit irrelevant.

It's a bit odd, as Salisbury's not on the at800 website (which I found later) as anywhere near the 800 MHz 4G transmission, which seems to be in major urban areas, mostly in the south-east (what a surprise).

Thanks Mike. As I said, I'm not doing anything about it until after I've moved - and then only if I have any problems.
