Why is the Oliver Mount transmitter (Scarborough) and the Hunmanby relay covered by the Yorkshire region when it's closer tot the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region?

My old friend Leila was asking me if anyone could help diagnose these two problems that she has noticed with the Freeview service on the television in her hotel room. Her husband Matthew (who is, like me, an absolute Freeview geek to hell and back) has tried to do as much fiddle with the television as allowable in-between sorting out their children (and, like me, they have 3, and you can figure out how well that goes)
These are the problems that she finds on her television:
* More 4+1, Film 4+1 and BBC One HD all have no EPG information, and therefore all display No information
* and BBC One HD has no sound at all
Matthew says that it could be the transmitter the Weymouth relay, he thinks that is received at their Premier Inn hotel (Gateway Business Park, Weymouth, DT3 5HJ), that is having these problems. He says that he is aware of listed works, but he says that these shouldn't cause trouble with these specific services.

Yeh, that does make sense. I'll tell Leila and Matt about that. I know their television service (which is also Freeview because reasons obvious if you know what I mean) doesn't suffer from any of these problems.

(I'm supposed to be on Alresford...I forgot to take it out after checking what TX they would be on)

As you haven't provided a postcode, I can't tell what specific transmitter you need, but I have estimated a postcode and inserted the postcode into BBC Reception. It shows three transmitters that could be received: Stockland Hill, Mendip and Rowridge (vertical). Rowridge VP seems to be the best transmitter for your location. You should be able to generally receive PSB 1, 2 and 3, but the commercial multiplexes are not as strongly received.
You could be better off with an aerial with higher gain or moving up the hill if possible. Also, check where the horizontal aerials are pointing. If they're pointing the same direction (Rowridge Horizontal), try that. You may experience a lower signal, though.
I unfortunately can provide much help since 1) I can't physically be there, and 2) I'm not a very good expert.
Regardless of that, I hope this information may help you.

Chris. SE:
After ages of looking around, me and Max (my husband) have decided on what box and aerial to get:
* Humax HDR-2000T (although this can change since it's hard to find a good box that isn't/hasn't been in production for years and/or is available on Amazon in full stock)
* Blake 56-element Group K aerial (https://www.blake-uk.com/bla-lp56k.html)
We will also try to find a professional installer when we have the time to.
