If you have any internal booster in the Tv menu ensure it is off. Make and model of your setup may help and was it fine before DSO? If so then I would say its overload.

In that case first thing to do is speak to a neighbour or two and see if they are having issues as you should have been getting it before DSO. Find that out first as my previous post is probably irrelevent . The more info you can give the better chance of resolving it.
If your neighbours are getting it then its a fault with your setup.

An attenuator will only solve a problem if the signal is overloading your TV or box tuner.
You will not need to turn the signal down on RTE from the South.
Your issue appears to be that your equipment is unable to decode the picture. Given that you were getting good analogue signals from the South it sounds like you require a Freeview HD box with the FREEVIEW HD logo to work

I should also mention that a FREEVIEW HD box is DVB T2 which means it will decode Freeview, Saorview and the RTE multiplex from Black Mountain. In otherwords these boxes cover everything.
Hopefully that makes things a bit clearer.

Please disregard the last two posts I confused you with another issue.
The signal at the moment is very strong now and given your area a 12 or 20db attenuator should be fine or indeed a variable one from 0 - 20db.

There shouldnt be a problem with one channel effecting the rest.
Channels now transmitting 100,000 Watts and 50,000 Watts there is very little difference in real signal power.
UHF signals work on line of sight therefore the transmitters are located on the highest locations. They cannnot travel through rock or mountain no matter what the power increase is, so the key question is pre DSO were you and they getting normal signal?
If you were getting a normal working signal from Freeview and the problem occurred when the switchover happened then I would say yes attenuate or lower the signal. If the latter then you would need your signal looked at to see if you can receive it.
Without putting a spectrum analyzer on its difficult to say.

Sounds like your down to two options either the box is bad or its a signal issue. You could take the box to your friends and plug it in there to prove the box is working correctly that would rule that one out.
It is a case of having to rule it out.
If your aerial has been up for quite a while it may be an old Group A type which cuts off at channel 37 and the NIMM (RTE Black Mountain) is transmitted on channel 39 which is the Group K type which picks up to channel 48. But I would check the box first.
The customer who I was out with got a second I Can box which again would not even let you into the menu.

Thanks for the box info I will remember that one.
Hard to say, if it was put up a couple of years ago I would expect it to be Gp K (ch21 - 48)or a wideband (ch21 - 69) type which would be fine.
If its very old then it could be a Gp A (ch21 - 37)which is struggling to pull channel 39 in.
Think you will need someone out on this one.
Can't think of anything else.

The RTE you picked up is the Sky transmittion which requires a card.
Dont forget the box needs to be Freeview HD not just Freeview.
Recording boxes are easy to get at the mitute, non recording seem to be selling out quickly.

Sounds like your signal is too good/strong sounds like you need to attenuate the signal in other words turn it down.
A 20db attenuator will probably solve your issue.
In cases were your close to the transmitter the TV tuner can get overloaded.
