Below are all of hackett's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Many thanks Brian. We've always had the aerial plugged into the pvr (& then the pvr connected to the telly by HDMI cable). When the pvr is failing to pick up channels though i switch the aerial back to the telly which seems to work better. That's what I don't understand - does it suggest problem is with tuner in pvr (one week old) rather than our aerial or transmitter?

Just wanted to say how much your help is appreciated. We're not sorted yet, but unbelievably reassuring to speak to a voice of reason & have access to this forum. There's so much conflicting advice out there, we need someone to guide us through it, so a big fat thanks!

Latest is we took pvr round to parents (who live nearby & need to go down digital route too) and all working fine and dandy, so guess it must be a prob with our aerial or local reception. But, following your advice, we'll wait and see what happens after switchover in March (as telly copes ok currently) before we spend money on installing a new aerial. Fingers crossed! Thanks again, h

Hi Brian: Thanks for all the useful info & hope you can help us too... We got new digital tv, which worked fine except for the BBC channels (both radio & tv, so missing two multiplexes). Then we got a Humax pvr, which briefly found the BBC channels, but not for long. Also it keeps losing other digital channels, although when I switch back to the telly it manages to pick them up ok. Richer Sounds suggested an aerial booster? We're Sandy Heath & noticed other people were having probs there & on yr '2-channel problem'link digital signal strength doesn't look great.
Is it a case of hanging on till signal gets boosted at switch or do we need a new aerial? Just don't understand why telly tuner can pick it up, but not pvr?
So much for the cuddly robot ads telling us how great the switch would be... Thank goodness for forums and people like you...
