David. Following the experience of Nigel in the Archers I am reluctant to go on to the roof. I am very confident that my aerial must be pointing pretty much due east as I am at the west end of Glasgow and the transmitter is half way to Edinburgh.

As others have said, it's only five months to wait so it may be worth simply waiting to see if it is sorted out with DSO. With a bit of luck they might even start transmitting from the new mast in advance of the formal switchover.

Will they start using the new transmitter mast before the official switchover? Maybe that could be the explanation.

Briantist, not for HD surely as the relay transmitters do not broadcast this.

Briantist: my thinking was that channel 59 is not re-broadcast by the relay transmitters at the moment and will not be used by Black Hill after the switch-over. It is a temporary service. I don't see how moving it from one mast to the other would affect the relays. It might improve reception in the short term and I was simply postulating that this might explain why people are seeing improvement in HD. Is it possible to know whether the new mast is in use rather than both of us guessing?

Delusional DAB arguments page

Should 'listing' read 'listening'? I think it was additional listening options the BBC intended to provide. The problem is that in the process DAB became downgraded from 'near CD quality' as it was in the beginning to near AM quality.

Nobody should worry at this stage about Freeview reception. In June the power levels will be multiplied by 5 (or by 10 for HD) so all problems are likely to disappear then.

The introduction shows Associated Rediffusion as the ITV company from 1955 to 1968. Technically I believe that Associated Rediffusion operated from 1955 to 1964, then Rediffusion London from 1964 to 1968 (when Associated Newspapers was no longer involved).

I should have made it clear that only the first paragraph was taken from aerialsandtv.com. The remaining paragraphs were my own comments. '10 time stronger' should of course read '10 times stronger'.

Does anyone know when BBC One Scotland will be shown in HD? At the moment it's a national service with a page advising a retune to SD during 'regional' news programmes. They say they cannot 'yet' bring regional variations, which implies this is the eventual aim.

Briantist: Thanks. I worked that one out from the wording of the notice. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of timescale.
