Without saying what equipment you are using it is impossible to answer your question. You should have no post viterbi errors.

50% signal strength on a Sony is poor, you will need to contact a reputable aerial installer to check out your aerial system.

So it would seem, The Digital Spy site has an alert button for this sort of thing but I couldn't find one on here.

I live not far from you and can confirm that all 10 multiplexes are working normally. Winter Hill serves over 7 million people, if there was a problem this and the website Digital Spy would be inundated with complaints.

I live close to Sale and according to the signal strength metering on my Humax Fox T-2 PVR, all 10 multiplexes at Winter Hill are operating normally. There was no power reduction when I checked 10 mins ago, nor have I seen any this year at all. Even the Canis Media GMan multiplex, although low level at my location, usually works OK on my loft aerial. In Sale you should be able to receive all the main HD and SD multiplexes , including coms 7&8, together with "That's Manchester" without any problems. Any power reductions at Winter Hill are likely to be during daylight hours for maintenance and probably quite brief.

Poor reception in South Manchester is frequently caused by TV's locking on to the Haslingden transmitter after an auto tune. A manual retune, although tedious, solves this problem. The signal levels in South Manchester are so high that they are immune to atmospheric effects, high gain amplifiers, to distribute the signal, can cause overloading however.

Channel 54 carries the BBC HD services for which of course you need a Freeview HD receiver. If your signal levels are low, check the other channels on you TVs status page, it is possible that they will be the first to go. I assume you cannot see channels 31 and 37 either. I suspect you may have an aerial problem of some kind.

All winter hills channels are at normal levels here in SW Manchester. Your aerial may have been damaged in the recent storms, check with your neighbours if they have any problems and check your cables are plugged in securely.
