Below are all of Algernon's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Thanks for the reply on "variable reception" from Oxford next year. I live near Northleach in Gloucestershire at 752 feet above sea level.
All along their "post code checker" has been somewhat dodgy and taking into account your comments I suspect my reception will not change much, if at all.
I note that the digital change over in the USA took place on one night, that is, all stations coast to coast in one night, pity our lot couldn't manage that!
Keep up the good work.
Algy.

Hello,
During the last couple of weeks the Freeview signal from the Oxford transmitter has broken up and left me with a blank screen on most channels. It them comes and goes!
The press say it is the high pressure but I thought digital was supposed to be immune to that.
Is the low transmission power the problem?

I see from the Digital TV site that in October 2013 I will be required to re-tune and from that date I will receive fewer channels. Surely this cannot be true!

It seems that Freeview have made some channel
changes but there has not been a "pop-up" to tell us. Anyone seen the "pop-up" in the last 7 days?
As of this moment all the old channels are still there and if I re-tune I get the new ones as well.

From the wilds of the Cotswold hills near Norhleach the Oxford retune worked perfectly.
Can we hope that this is the last time we will have to retune our sets?

Thanks Dave for the explanation however, I wonder if it might be Icomb Hill that is causing the problem.

Oh dear! what has happened to Freeview again?
We have just got over the biggest retune in history and now channel 15 is telling me to do it again. Are they all totally incompetent?

What is a "tweet".
Is it something to do with telephones or with TV?
I suspect 40% of the population don't know (or care).

Once again Freeview has failed due to a bit of fog.
Last evening all channels were off for most of the time
even BBC1, as for 10 and 38 they are still off this morning.
Will we have to suffer this for ever? Can't they increase the transmitter power to overcome this failure. Prior to the full introduction of digital we were promised weather related interference would be ended!

Well, the changeover all went swimmingly and we now have HD. My wife can't see any difference
and I can only see the difference in the news readers faces!
