KMJ,Derby: Thank you. The map shows nothing though. I hope DAB is better than the dire FM reception I get - I need to be at a window to get anything at all! The car radio is DAB with a mesmerising array of silent stations...

Briantist: Yes, on the map you pointed me to, so thanks - but not on the map on this page. Are there proposed or hoped for dates for the 'coming' transmitters?

I get it now - I had to click on Inverness, way to the north, to see the transmitters in the West Highlands.

How signal stregth, quality and bitrate relate | Digital TV RecSunday 29 September 2013 11:18AM

Does anyone else regard the poor quality of many of the digital channels to be an issue? Most have reduced resolution and bit rate which seems to me to be an issue as TVs mostly now have significantly larger screens. Maybe the poor quality was passable a few years ago but it's so apparent and intrusive with large screens. Our TV services should surely not be simply judged on how many channels we have. Watching some channels on a 42" screen is like watching an old videotape.

So why can't these additional BBC channels be put on Freesat for those of us in sparsely populated areas that are unlikely ever to get the additional services on Freeview?

Can anyone explain why I can't get BBC Three HD/Cbeebies on Freeview from Torosay transmitter? According to the data on this site, I should be getting it - I get the other HD channels shown.

Notts UK: Thanks for finding that. Presumably, this indicates that future Freeview HD channels will also be on satellite. It is deplorable that ITV doesn't also see fit to provide more of its channels on better quality than at present. They offer a single channel of decent technical quality only.

David: That's not strictly true - any licence payer in the UK can get all BBC HD channels on satellite.

leslie rainer:
You could buy a Freeview set top box and connect it to your TV. You would then have both Freeview and Freesat. Personally, the only channels not on free satellite TV that matter to me are Yesterday and Drama.
