But 'London Live' is also local and that's on Sky117 in the London area only.
Surely it should be possible to show Notts tv on 117 in the NG postcode area and all the other local channels in their respective postcode areas too
(eg. Mustard tv in the NR postal area and so on....)?
I thought that Sky channel 117 had been set-aside for local broadcasters.
Or is it something to do with transmission fees and money?
By the way, Virgin media carry Notts tv on channel 159 in the Nottm area, so it's not just Freeview.

Hi Briantist.
Thanks for the info. I agree that transmission costs must be a major factor.
I'd just like to mention that whilst around 300,000 people live in the city of Nottingham, the population of the Greater Nottingham area is in excess of 750,000 and indeed Notts tv themselves quote on their website (the Advertising page 'Who's Watching') that their potential reach is 'to over 1 million people in Nottinghamshire alone'. I can't quite understand that, as most of North Nottinghamshire won't be able to receive their service on Freeview for as you know, North Nottinghamshire is served by Emley Moor and Belmont and is therefore deemed to be within the North of England tv region (even though the broadcasters', particularly BBC Yorks and Lincs, never show any news concerning Notts!).
Perhaps Notts tv are including South Lincolnshire and surrounding areas in the population stats.
Just one more bit of info. B.
I've today read (belatedly!) an article in the Nottingham Post (part of the Notts tv consortium) from last Wednesday 28 May, that states Notts tv is broadcast on Freeview Ch 8, Virgin Media159 (from last Thursday) and will be available to Sky customers "later in the year" so perhaps something is happening behind the scenes.
So to Chris above, we'll just have to wait and see.......

I suppose that local tv means far more to local people than to those who live away from the area for which the programmes are intended.
Perhaps all Peterborough news and features would mean very little to me here in Notts.
Why Notts tv is beamed towards South Lincolnshire and The Fens, I just don't know.
I think it will be difficult for each station to produce enough fresh programming (specific to their own local area) to keep their respective audiences entertained and so attract those all-too-essential advertisers.
I dare say that over time, to fill the schedules, we in South Nottinghamshire will be viewing local programmes from the other stations, as will they see ours too.
Which makes me wonder if the local tv experiment will succeed.

It's nothing to do with any reception problems.
It's a national retune to take into account a change of some Freeview EPG channel numbers. As an example, the news channels that currently start at 80 will move to 130 upwards.

Andy: All Welsh transmitters broadcast Central (West Midlands) ITV HD, so you're probably receiving that service from Wenvoe as suggested by Dave.

GEM and Andy:
In England & Wales, ITV (Freeview) broadcast 4 regional variants on HD. They are:
Border (receives ITV HD Granada)
Tyne Tees (Granada HD)
Yorkshire (Granada HD)
Anglia (Meridian East HD)
Central East (Central West HD)
Central South (Central West HD)
Meridian West [South & Thames Valley micro regions] (Meridian East HD)
Meridian East (Meridian East HD)
Wales (Central West HD)
West & Westcountry (Central West HD)
London (London HD)

In my earlier comment at 7.52 p.m., I referred to Central South. This should have said Central West.
Central South is of course now part of the Thames Valley micro region of Meridian West.
Sorry for the confusion.

I've noticed today, that posters have appeared in Nottingham stating that Notts tv will be available on
Sky (presumably channel 117) from July 2015. I would therefore think that it will be available throughout the Nottingham (NG) postcode area.

I twittered Notts tv on 20 May. They confirmed that Sky will be carrying their service, but the exact date in July has yet to be confirmed. When it is known they (Notts tv) will advertise it by social media.

Kathy Comerford:
You're in the BBC West Midland region, so on Freeview it's doubtful that you would be able to receive BBC West. (No BBC West region transmitters serve the Cheltenham area.)
All BBC regions (including West) are available to you by Sky and Freesat.
