Below are all of Big Dave's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Simon - Just a reminder that SDN ARQA & ARQB multiplexes are restricted to 12.5KW ERP until April next year at which point they will increase to 50KW ERP following the switchover of the High Wycombe & Hemel Hempstead transmitters. If you live in a less than ideal reception area & there is quite a big dip in Buckingham then you may well experience reception problems until then.

Nicola - where you are located you should not have any problems receiving any of the channels, even with the power restrictions on the commercial multiplexes. You should easily be able to passively split the signal to 2 receivers. Either there is too much signal (likely if you have a roof mounted aerial) or you have fault (Bad connection, short circuit in the aerial cable etc). My advice would be to have it checked by a profeesional aerial rigger.

Hi Briantist - Just noticed that in the channel list for the SDN mux, ITV3 (Channel 10) seems to be missing from the list. Just a small point I know. Just wondering if there was a reason for this.

It will be interesting to see how far the 200KW signals will propogate after switchover. Here in Banbury (North Oxfordshire)although our aerial points to Oxford I can quite often in favourable conditions pick up CP muxes even at 20KW although they are subject to breaking up.

Mike Miles: The commercial muxes had to be restricted to 12.5KW because the analogue relays at High Wycombe & Hemel Hempstead used the same UHF chaneels (55, 59 & 62). When these switch with Crystal Palace then the power will be raised at Oxford.

Sally Gordon: If you receive all your tv through sky then the digital switchover will not affect you. The most likely explanation for you getting a picture without sound (if the sky box is connected to the tv with a scart lead) is that one of the scart plugs is not properly inserted. They tend to come adrift over time.

Will: I don't know whether the plan was changed but after London there are 3 regions left to switch, 1st - East Sussex & Kent, 2nd - The North East, & finally Northern Ireland. It may be that the switch was co-ordinated with continental stations to avoid interference.

R Walker - It depends whether your aerial is pointing to Pontop Pike Or Bilsdale. Pontop Pike is broadcasting Freeview HD at low power but Bilsdale will not be until DSO next Septemner (according to data on these pages).After DSO both transmitters will have it a high power. Very good it is too.
