All posts by Bizman
Below are all of Bizman's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Having re-read all these posts again, I wonder if the problem is too much signal overloading the tuner. I have signal monitoring facilities which tell me I have 99% signal strength and 100% signal quality. Much more signal and the quality would drop, possibly to zero. The frequency change could result in a stronger signal thus turning good reception into bad. Where I am (near Taunton race course) there are no buildings nearby in my line of sight to the transmitter.

@Geoff, your licence fee doesn't entitle you to good reception any more than a marriage licence entitles you to a good wife. I expect over the years the wording has changed, but at one time it was simply for ownership of the receiving apparatus (whether it works or not).

@Chloe, If all else fails I would be prepared to offer assistance as I live in Taunton (TA3) and reception here is excellent. None of my neighbours have a problem with BBC, nor any friends who live in town. I have odd bits of test & diagnostic equipment that could be put to resolving the matter which seems to be very localised.

Just watched This Mornings weather forecast and thought 'oh a different weather girl' then I realised the area covered was a bit further east, i.e. the Meridian area. This was later confirmed by the statement referring the 'weather for the Meridian region'. What happened there? Has Mendip run out of weather?

I don't have HD, I normally get weather and other regional content from West. This was just a one-off.

When can we expect the new July 8th channel line-up changeover to occur ? I think my TV will pick it up automatically, but my PVR may need a retune.

@cfc, LCN changes are a permanent feature of the allotted numbers as channels come & go. most discussion appears to be on Digital Spy forums but the new Drama channel is being advertised on channels owned by UKTV. The programme line-up can be found on the LocateTV site.

You missed it! Easily done, it was in the small print in adverts for it. The adverts only appeared on UKTV channels such as Yesterday, Really, et al

@chloe, I live in Taunton and the retune went without a hitch, I have all the BBC channels, including radio, which eliminates the transmitter end. This suggests it is either a settings problem with your equipment or a frequency effect due possibly to some geographical feature such as building reflections.
