Hello. Today I attempted to watch 'Talking Pictures' but the system lost me in a never ending cycle of repeated instructions. Can you assist me in how to do this in the future? I don't have a TV just a laptop computer.

Yours R. Patrick Lavery

R. Patrick Lavery: Talking Pictures don't seem to have an online player to watch watch their programmes. You might be able to receive the channel if you get a DVB-T tuner stick and connect it to your laptop and an aerial.

Brian: Is there an update please about transmission of TPTV signal? My transmitter is Rowridge and my Freeview HD TV will not tune into it, will a Freesat top box help? Thanks.

Kayj:

The Rowridge transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal".
TalkingPictures TV is on the ArqB multiplex, if you've been having trouble with any other channels on the same multiplex, this may be the explanation.
For which channels are on which multiplex, see Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview

Freesat is what the name implies and you'd need a satellite dish and LNB and it has no bearing on Freeview reception.

If you are continuing to have problems, please post back with a full postcode so we can look at your predicted reception, also details of which other channels you are having problems with.

Kayj: If you buy a Freesat box and dish you will get most of the same channels, however they are broadcast from a satellite above the equator, it has nothing to do with Freeview which is broadcast from land based transmitters.

Chris.SE: thanks for this information. Are you saying that even if I buy Freesat box and dish it would not improve my reception of Freeview channels? I cannot get a number of them including Sony Movies and Sony Movies Classic and would hope that the Freesat would guarantee a better reception of Freeview. I live in central Worthing BN11 having moved from SE London and nearby Crystal Palace transmitter!

Kayj: A booster might help if you have a weak signal, however there needs to be a signal there to boost in the first place. If you provide a full postcode we can see what the predicted reception is at your location and may be able to offer further advice.

Kayj:

To be clear, a "booster" is an aerial amplifier. As StevensOnln1 says you do need a signal to boost/amplify! My suspicion is you are just a bit too far from Rowridge even if your aerial has the rods Vertical (Rowridge has both polaristaions for the 6 main multiplexes, but COM7 and Local are only horizontal and the horizontal signals will be weaker) but reception across your postcode district is very variable.

You may get better reception from the Whitehawk Hill transmitter but that will depend on location and only a full postcode can give a feel for the predicted reception. The Findon transmitter may be closer but that is a "Light" transmitter with PSB multiplexes only so won't have the COM muxes that you seem to be missing at present.
