Panasonic TV with inbuilt Freeview receives ITV 4.
An extension to another room from the same aerial to a (fairly old ) set top box does not acknowledge Channel 24s existence at all.
Is because of the low power transmission (full digital at Lark Stoke (subsidiary) - which we receive - although Sutton Coldfield(Main) does not go on line until September?
or Loss of gain because of long extension?
or Set top boxes not correct for full digital tranmission?
It obviously not a life threatening situation but missing motor sport because of a clash in the household is annoying.
Would a TV with built -in Freeview solve the problem?

Jonathan Wilson: If there was a problem with the mode, you wouldn't be getting the BBC channels or ITV1, C4, C5 and the other services on the D3&4 multiplex.
You probably are dropping enough signal on the run from one box to the other to cause the problem. It's best to split cables as close to the aerial as possible, and make sure that if you add any amplification, it is only just enough to offset the loss through the splitter (and you amplify before the split).
The root cause probably is that ArqB is still on very low power. It will reach the final level when it moves to the final channel on 21 September.
Lark Stoke is no longer a relay - as digital signals generally did not reach from main transmitters to their relays, all transmitters (even if previously classified as relays) were fed digital signals independently. Brian says by using a high-speed Synchronous Digital Hierarchy link leased from BT, though I think with satellite backup.

Geof Luton: The trade predictor indicates your mothers location as being capable of receiving stations from multiple locations, however none of them are really good across the board, with Sudbury and Rouncefall being on about equal status from the 20th of July, the problem with Rouncefall being that its a "light" transmitter and as such with a limited number of stations being available.
If your mothers installation was a replacement to an old system was the new aerial pointed in the same direction as the old one, and if so what direction?
Dover is also shown as a possibility but not until 2012.
