Robert Boal: On having a look at the signal path from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter the station that is indicated as providing your area with the best reception, the signal path is seen to pass over a tree lined area on the West side of Church Walk, trees being something can can cause partial signal blocking resulting in picture glitching etc.
If you are indeed receiving from Sutton Coldfield then carry out a signal check on mux Ch39 which corresponds to SC's COM6 as all programmes mentioned are on the COM6 transmitter, the thing to look out for on a signal check being if the quality level is observed to be diving downwards now and again, this being one of the symptoms associated with problems caused by trees albeit that it can also be caused by other reasons but with all of being outwith the control of the viewer.
If on the other hand you are receiving from the more distant Waltham transmitter, then its COM6 is indicated as only providing a variable level of reception, its COM6 being on muxCh57.

Still struggling with getting Film4 sorted. When I update my channels initially it seems to be sorted. But the next day its straight back to no channel 45 and the 'retune' message again.
The last attempt was to wipe the TV channels from the TV and to then re-tune the lot. That didn't work either.
What is going on?
Location: Holbeach Lins.

TOM BECKETT: Its not really possible for anyone to be able to offer more detailed advice when you have failed to indicate your location, this in the form of a post code or one from nearby, e.g: a shop / post office.
By the way Film4 being on 791 is correct, and due to the fact that it is still being transmitted on its original COM6/ArqB multiplex as well as its new position on PSB2 the ITV1 mux, it retaining its programme guide number of (15) whereas on COM6 its now under 791 for the time being before its withdrawn.

Hi jb38 who has 4985 posts to his name and from his high tech talk knowes all about how these things work. However I am just an old guy who would like to look at his TV
Since my first post 791 is now showing BIG DEAL and 15 FILM4.
One of the new ones is 61 TRUE ENTERTAIN and I am pleased to say it is OK but it does not show up in the guide---WHY

TOM BECKETT: If, during the setup, there is the choice of region or network - these being "Yorkshire" and "E Yorks/Lincs" - then you need to select "Yorkshire" if your aerial faces Emley Moor (roughly due west) and "E Yorks/Lincs" if the aerial faces Belmont (roughly due east).
Knowledge of the model number would allow us to view the user manual and hence be more qualified.

TOM BECKETT: Judging by what you have said is an indication that your box does require a retune as witnessed by the fact of (61) True Entertainment not appearing on your programme guide, this programme being on the same multiplex as ITV3 etc as well as the new Drama channel (20).
As Dave Lindsay has mentioned the Doncaster area is capable of receiving Freeview from either Belmont or Emley Moor, although the latter completely covers the area whereas the former overlaps it to a much lesser extent, but no matter where you receive your signal from the box requires a retune.
As far as the Big Deal is concerned, its channel was superseded around the turn of the year by Movie Mix and as such I have failed to see Big Deal being mentioned in any of the lists, unless that is because its sharing a channel with other programmes, and so if by any chance you can actually view Big Deal when you select 791? then maybe you could check its source by using the undermentioned procedure.
On a Humax box press "Menu" then run down to the bottom icon titled "System" and press on same, finally select (2) "Signal condition" and note the TX channel number indicated as well as the station being indicated, giving an update on the result.
