Angie: On the assumption that you are using the Durris transmitter then go into the "manual tune" menu on one of your TV's or boxes used and enter mux Ch29 (used by Film 4) but do NOT press search or scan, because if the signal is there it will indicate a level, note whatever it is and then change the channel number to mux Ch23 (ITV3 etc) and compare the two readings, this being a used as a rough guide as to any problems as both these transmitters are on the same power.

Post Code is HP15, I have BT Vision and I can't get Film4+1, I've tried a retune to no avail, I believe that Crystal Palace is my transmitter, should I turn the aerial around to the opposite direction? to Oxford? All other channels seem okay

on my Freview TV down south I could get Yesterday, film 4 and Discovery, now in Berwick upon Tweed on the same TV I can't, please tell me how to get them.

anne havers: Not all areas can receive the Commercial channels. In some cases a replacement aerial may bring them in, and in others viewers will only receive the Public Service (PSB) channels. For an explanation, see:
Londonderry (Northern Ireland) digital TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice
Berwick-upon-Tweed has its own transmitter due to the fact that it's in a valley; it being at the mouth of the Tweed. This transmitter only carries PSB channels, so if your aerial points to it then that's all you'll get. It is to the north of the town on Camphill and your aerial will be vertical (elements up/down).
If you are lucky, you may be able to receive from the main transmitter which is Chatton. This broadcasts all channels, is to the south of the town and aerials are horizontal (elements flat).
As I say, Berwick is in a valley which means that you may be pushing it to receive from Chatton.

I too have recently lost channels and signal quality, especially at night there's lots of drop-out. Lost channels include Film4, Yesterday & ITV4 - My aerial is pointed at Stockland Hill, though recently they have knocked down most of Rampisham so assuming the UHF has gone.. I've retuned a few times and it seems to be getting worse. Any ideas if there are problems in the area / transmitter etc. thanks, L
