Hello: I have been looking into a query from someone who cannot get Freeview HD channels from the Storeton transmitter on the Wirral. Your list of Stroreton channels shows these as being broadcast on C60 (PSB3) so manually tuned this channel in with no success. I then rang DigitalUK who informed me that Storeton are not broadcasting HD on that frequency and indeed the HD channels are on COM 7 and COM 8 muxes which Storeton does not transmit. Bad news for people in Wirral and Merseyside who want a sharper picture unless they turn their aerials round to Winter Hill!

Mike Hartley: PSB3 broadcasts HD channels from every transmitter. According to the Digital UK postcode checker, Storeton broadcasts the Granada version of the PSB3 mux (carrying BBC 1 HD, BBC 2 HD, ITV Granada HD, Channel 4 HD, Channel 5 HD, CBBC HD & Film 4 +1) on UHF channel 22. There is a separate Welsh version broadcasting directionally towards North Wales (carrying BBC 1 Wales HD, BBC 2 HD, ITV Wales HD, Channel 4 HD, Channel 5 HD, CBBC HD & Film 4 +1) on UHF channel 60. I think there may have been some confusion in your conversation with Digital UK who are correct in saying that COM7 & COM8 are not broadcast from Storeton, however this means that viewers would need to use Winter Hill to get the additional HD channels on these muxes (i.e. BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, BBC News HD, Channel 4 +1 HD, 4Seven HD, Al Jazeera HD, RT HD, QVC HD, etc). If you put a full postcode in to this website (or use Digital UK's checker) you will be able to see which multiplexes are available from which transmitters (along with their UHF channel allocations) at your location.

Oddly, I can get Freeview channel 106 (BBC4 HD) on one TV in my house but another TV connected to the same aerial doesn't show 106 in the programme guide - it jumps from 105 to 107. Both sets are Samsung, but different models. The one that won't show 4HD is the newer one. I've retuned it at least 4 times, most recently yesterday.

David Whitley: We need to know which transmitter you're using, please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc. BBC Four HD is on the COM8 multiplex, are you missing any of the other COM8 channels such as the QVC HD channels?

Just checked again. Chan 111 is also missing, QVC HD, as you suggested. On the TV that will receive 4HD the HD channels go up to 115 with no gaps.

David Whitley: On the TV where BBC Four HD is missing, do you get any signal strength or quality readings if you go to the manual tuning screen in the settings and select UHF channel 31? What do you get for UHF channel 55?
