Paul J: Try carrying out a fresh retune on your Freesat device, as the channel had also vanished on my receiver, the retune having restored it.

Paul J: Pleased that the retune has solved the problem, as Al Jazeera is also one of the channels viewed by myself, albeit as far as news and events are concerned, RT today being one of the others.

gerry roper: The problem referred to is basically caused by Al Jazerra (108) now being broadcast by the COM7 (HD) multiplex whereas hitherto (on 133) it was COM6, this changeover creating a twofold difficulty for a number of viewers dependant on their location, as only a number of main stations covering larger populations actually transmits the COM7 multiplex.
The secondary problem being, that COM6 could be received by older TV's and boxes of the non HD variety whereas COM7 cannot, as by the latter being an HD multiplex its only receivable by equipment fitted with DVB-T2 tuners, i.e: true HD TV's (and boxes) and *not* HD ready types.
The only possibility some viewers *might* have (although its doubtful) of being able to continue receiving Al Jazerra is by tuning to a alternative station that does transmit COM7, a post code or one from somewhere nearby (e.g: shop / post office) required for checking.
That said, needless to say, the aforementioned can be disregarded by anyone *not* using true HDTV's or boxes.

jb38: Interesting article about com7, my Panasonic smart tv meets the criteria, but like others, cannot tune in Al Jazeera on HD108. My area uses Winter hill Lanc's. will have to delve deeper because AJ was one of my favorite channels.

Walter raybould: The following three channels, namely (106) BBC FOUR HD - (110) 4seven HD and (113) RT HD are also transmitted on Winter Hills COM7 multiplex, if you are able to view same but not (108), then this is inclined to suggest that your TV requires a retune to update the EPG data.
Although its always best to carry out a complete auto-retune, as this action deletes everything already stored in the tuners memory prior to the retune, however to save upsetting anything already stored in the programme guide the result desired can sometimes be achieved by simply carrying out a manual retune on Mux C31 / 554.0Mhz.

Since the switch of all jazzera to channel 108 I have not been able to receive the channel following an automatic retune, I have a Panasonic full HD set which is in receipt of all the other HD channels transmitted from blaenplwyf,
Can you help?

jb38: Thanks for your reply, sorry i do not understand the jargon, C31 /554.0mghz . perhaps i should explain that i have re-tuned my TV using all means, but to no avail. I live in sheltered accom, we share a communal aerial. i have requested the aerial should be re-tuned or replaced. i hope this will be the initial reason i cannot access the required HD channels.

Unfortunately the latter statement in the aforementioned applies in the case of BlaenPlwyf, i.e: this station does not have a COM7 multiplex.
