Lorraine Jones: Rescanning was the worst thing to do as you've now deleted your which were correctly tuned to begin with. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Is your still attached and pointing the same way as those of your neighbours? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitters you're able to receive, where you are in relation to them and your predicted coverage etc.

I have never had decent coverage, I switched to for decent coverage, but now I have a NowTV box with an socket for Freeview.

I can receive sound quite adequately, but no accompanying pictures, so around the Midlands what choices or chances do I have?

At your location you should be using the , see Coverage Checker - Detailed View You need a aerial aimed at a bearing of 46 degrees with the rods horizontal. The transmitter is 33km away so you will not need any .

Hi - I accidentally posted the following question in the wrong section, so am re-posting here in (hopefully) the correct section.

My postcode is CB237XQ and my local (to which I'm tuned) is .
A couple of weeks ago, after returning from a trip away, our Panasonic TV had lost the 7 day EPG; it just shows a couple of hours of programmes (I believe termed "now & next"?). I waited to see if it returned but it didn't. I tried a "dry tune" - this re-tuned all available , but didn't re-instate the EPG. I next tried a Factory Reset (Shipping Condition) which forced the auto-setup as for out-of-box TV. Again, all channels were successfully re-tuned in, but no EPG, just "now & next".
I am at a loss to understand what has happened, and worse, how to fix it.
Have EPG transmissions/formats/code etc changed recently, that I am unaware of, or is there something else?
Any thoughts or guidance would be very welcome.

Are you still having this problem? Sometimes it can take a while for the 7-day EPG to re-populate.
If you still have the problem, I'd ring 0808 100 0288 and ask them if there's a problem with the EPG data from . But note, there is work at Sandy Heath this week with possible weak from time to time.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, still have the same issue - but only on this TV....other TV's in the house are OK.

Whilst I have no knowledge or understanding on how this (EPG) works, my theory is that (as the TV is quite old - ie: ~7 years) - perhaps the format of EPG data (or possibly the volume of it) has changed and somehow exceeded the capability of the TV to either decode or store it....but as I say, that's just a "novice theory".

I'll take your advice and call and see what they have to say.

Hi Chris,

I've spoken to who subsequently passed me onto Panasonic and I've summarised the situation below, in case anyone else may be suffering anything similar.

Essentially, Panasonic are saying that the sitution is "not fixable". They are saying that it is due to the age of the TV (a 2010 model) - and the technology that they deployed within the TV is "no longer capable of processing or decoding and displaying the EPG data". Thanks. So, I have a perfectly good Panasonic TV, with built-in Freeview and that is rendered (to a degree) worthless as a result - in other words, I'm out of luck! My choices appear to be: keep the TV and return to using Date/Time information from a "paper" guide to facilitate setting up recordings etc, as per the old days; or junk the TV and buy a replacement....which seems a bit of overkill just to re-instate an EPG !

I think my 30+ years of brand loyalty to Panasonic just ended, because I think it will be more cost effective to buy a cheap set top box, such that I can bin it if/when future EPG issues break the hardware, rather than having to bin a perfectly functional several-hundred-pound TV.

Roy: I hadnt heard about that particular problem, although I will ask in tech support tomorrow and the Panaonic rep when I am working. Its not unknown for EPG software to just get too old to be compatable - thats sort of what happened to our ony PVR about 6 years ago when there was a slight change to the EPG and every machine in the country threw a wobbly. Its not just Panasonic, but you might have just been unlucky. In any case, think of your set as just a panel, and then plug in stuff to where needed. With my TV salesman hat on, I would say after eight eyars, your due an upgrade anyway, and so one size up from your current set, and stick to the big four brands!

Your slight problem will be to get a cheap set top box - ones are difficult to get hold of (and dont bother with the Manhattens - I have one and its now barely useable), but ones like the one that Humax does will do fine.

If you are looking for a box, then look to kill two birds with one stone and get a PVR. They will be smart (and the latest versions will have wifi), have two or more HD tuners, and so will be able to stream, record and watch live. 129 for the BT PVR (Humax under the bonnet) but no wifi is the cheapest, but its worth waiting until Dec 26th - the sales might get you something even better for the same money or clearance models might be available at good prices - always worth looking at returns.
