Freeview is on a very sad decline.
I'm trying to get this site back into shape.
Would a "contact your MP" function be useful - based on your Freeview transmitter?

I know I've just randomly stepped on this website (and it's been years since I last did) but...
Why is the Oliver Mount transmitter (Scarborough) and the Hunmanby relay covered by the Yorkshire region when it's closer tot the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region?

Max Hawthorne: Oliver's Mount was originally a relay of Emley Moor when it opened in 1975 and has always been in the BBC and ITV Yorkshire region.

My old friend Leila was asking me if anyone could help diagnose these two problems that she has noticed with the Freeview service on the television in her hotel room. Her husband Matthew (who is, like me, an absolute Freeview geek to hell and back) has tried to do as much fiddle with the television as allowable in-between sorting out their children (and, like me, they have 3, and you can figure out how well that goes)
These are the problems that she finds on her television:
* More 4+1, Film 4+1 and BBC One HD all have no EPG information, and therefore all display No information
* and BBC One HD has no sound at all
Matthew says that it could be the transmitter the Weymouth relay, he thinks that is received at their Premier Inn hotel (Gateway Business Park, Weymouth, DT3 5HJ), that is having these problems. He says that he is aware of listed works, but he says that these shouldn't cause trouble with these specific services.

Constance Hawthorne: TVs in hotel rooms rarely get retuned, so it could be as simple as it having not been retuned in a long time to pick up updated channel lists (this function will probably be locked down to prevent guest access). It could also be that something is being done to the mux data as it passes through the hotel's distribution system. I recently stayed at a Premier Inn in London and found that whilst the channels and current programme names were listed, there was no programme information available on any of the channels I watched.

Yeh, that does make sense. I'll tell Leila and Matt about that. I know their television service (which is also Freeview because reasons obvious if you know what I mean) doesn't suffer from any of these problems.
