To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

freeview channel 236 (GB News) is almost inaudible on my smart TV whereas every other channel is just fine, both picture and sound. What might be the problem?

David Mundy: I haven't watched the channel, but from comments I've seen on this website and elsewhere GB News have a major problem with sound quality, so if all other channels are working there is probably nothing wrong at your end.

The sound quality and levels have a lot to be desired, hopefully they'll get it sorted soon before a lot of people give up!

What is wrong with carrier 29 from Craigkelly (Blackhill)?
All other carriers are showing 100% but "no signal" showing on all channels on carrier 29.
This has been going on for weeks.

Leitch:

The Craigkelly transmitter is on the North side of the Firth of Forth almost due North of Edinburgh and is a separate transmitter from the Black Hill transmitter which is about 2/3 of the way between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

UHF C29 at Craigkelly is the SDN multiplex. See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.

I can't find any current faults listed for Craigkelly by Freeview, and it's not listed for Planned Engineering this week, but it was last week. If you perhaps retuned when C29 was off-air, it may have cleared the correct tuning.
See in your TV's tuning section and try a Manual tune for UHF C29 which will hopefully restore your channels.

At first, Freeview reception was shady and now it is none existent at certain times of the day.
The degradation of signal is truly remarkable and beggars belief. Even the BBC services are unobtainable at certain times and no ITV/Channel4/Channel 5 at all.
Previously and prior to the 5G install, we could receive usually 136 TV/Radio channels. Now we are lucky to get 50 and sometimes none.
I know it is not an aerial issue as I used to install them. We retune the TVs in the house every day so no 'update' issues either.
A few days ago , we retuned to 136 channels again briefly (it lasted 2 days). I guess it was because the 5G mast was undergoing maintenance.
Please advise

I'll respond to your post on the Idle transmitter page. I doubt this has anything to do with the purported 5G masts.

I have installed a new aerial using the Midhurst Transmitter and rescanned many times but remain with the same problem. All BBC channels ( 1+2+231) break up. Every other Freeview channel are of full reception with no breakup of picture. It seems that the BBC signals are weaker, is that possible?

Chris : What are the signal strength and quality readings for BBC and ITV channels? Both are broadcast at the same power level, so it's possible that your new aerial is receiving too much signal and causing your TV or box to be overloaded. Is there an amplifier connected to the new aerial anywhere?

Have you moved since your previous posts, as you've previously mentioned receiving different transmitters? If you provide a full postcode we'll be able to see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength, which may enable more specific advice to be offered.
