Details of the new Freeview HD transmitters to come on air next
published on UK Free TV

I am working on integrating this information into UK Free TV. Note there are a number of sites with restricted radiation patterns. This information may take a couple of days to generate coverage maps for.

I have used the "Nominal ERPs" (the power levels most likely to be employed in practice by the licensee).

Taken from Ofcom - Award of the 600 MHz spectrum band - it's bad news for The Wrekin and Sudbury, but good news for:

Raymond Wand:

COM7 and COM8 are very unlikely to appear on Heathfield. They are temporary services being used on some of the main transmitters, but not all. It is expected, but not yet announced, that the services currently carried on those multiplexes will appear within the 'normal' services as the current scheme to transfer services continues. When that is complete at Heathfield, you should have all the available channels.

neil margerison: There are no plans for any further transmitters to broadcast the extra multiplexes that you are referring to. COM7 & COM8 are temporary services which are broadcast from 30 main transmitters which cover around 75% of UK households and are expected to close in 2020.

Ray: If you are on high enough ground in and around Tenbury then Sutton Coldfield can be very useble, unfortunately the xtra HD channels are broadcast at a lower power than the PSB/COM channels from Sutton and are likely to be more marginal.
I have installed high gain TV aerials with Mast head amplifiers in 2 location in Tenbury Wells, with success, and in spots that were not that advatangeous to clear line of sight!of SC
AS you know Ray,the Tenbury Wells transmitter is 'freeview-lite'

When will Freeview HD be available in SP2 9NB? In particular I am interested in Channel 81 (Talking Pictures TV). I know from friends that they can receive this channel in SP1 3GY.

Richard Brown: There are HD channels broadcast from every transmitter, however you need a TV or set top box with the Freeview HD logo to be able to receive them (if your TV only says HD Ready or Full HD that only refers to the screen being able to display a HD picture). According to Digital UK's postcode checker, your postcode is served by the Salisbury transmitter, whilst your friends are served by Hannington. Talking Pictures is carried on the COM7 multiplex which is a temporary service, broadcast (along with COM8) from 30 main transmitters (including Hannington, but not Salisbury) and will not be expanding coverage to any further transmitters. However Talking Pictures have recently announced that they will be moving to the COM6 multiplex on 30th November (see link below) which is broadcast from Salisbury.
