Key people: Wil Stephens, current Cardiff and Newport local TV licence holder.
Cube Interactive
propose a Welsh TV network extending possibly into Bristol, with opt out programmes in English and Welsh as appropriate.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked out the maps and can see the projected footprint for the local TV service from Wenvoe. What I don't understand is what's happened to Cube's original licence (on the equivalent of the analogue channel 30) - only the prospective local service on 51.
On Winter Hill for example, the MEN multiplex is shown running on C57 and the new local service on C56.
As Cube haven't launched a TV service yet are they more likely to bid for 51 and use 30 for something else, or sell it on/hand it back?

Ben: OK, http://stakeholders.ofcom….pdf says
"Spectrum auctions
Ofcom held several spectrum auctions in 2008:
Interleaved spectrum in the 542 to 550 MHz band went to Cube Interactive in Cardiff ... Cube Interactive are planning to develop a multi-tier service based on linear TV. A multi-tier service would use the spectrum available to Cube to
deliver a variety of services that might include television and broadband. "
It would appear the Cube had the ability to launch a multiplex on C30 and they did not.
Ofcom | Ofcom awards spectrum licence in Cardiff to Cube Interactive Limited is an announcement of the above, and Ofcom | Notices is a note saying the fee was paid and there is another mention in http://stakeholders.ofcom….pdf .
Just no actual service launch, more waffle at Cube Interactive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

Thanks Brian - I've done a bit more digging and found the following document: http://stakeholders.ofcom….pdf
On page 20 there is a map of the likely coverage area provided by a DTT service on channel 30. Compare this to the one shown here: Local TV on Freeview - new Ofcom maps | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for the channel 51 service.
Interesting.
