Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

neo: You could write to Sky and complain, ask them to provide what you want.

neo: I expect you will at least get a standard letter back.

Mikey.B: Sky are quite entitled to do as they wish with their channels, the company paid fairly and squarely for the right to close the channel down and move the programmes to subscription services.

Susan: To be fair, it was announced on 15th September 2010.

I knew Channel was going but didn't know it was going to be today and am not happy that I'm not getting my Star Trek fix! I'm physically not able to get Virgin (it would cost £12,000 to put the cables into the house) and due to restrictions on the property can't get Sky so have to make do with BT Vision.

Great another reduction in the Freeview service thanks to rupert piging Murdoch.

Andy: It's not a reduction as Channel One has been replaced with Challenge.

bob: I don't recall saying it was. It just isn't a reduction, just a change.
