BBC iPlayer on Freesat
A beta release of BBC iPlayer on Freesat is available to Humax Freesat boxes in December.
BBC iPlayer will roll out across all existing Freesat HD TVs and boxes in the next few months including those bought since Freesat's launch in May 2008.

I have Freesat and it as to be HD TV/Box to get the BBC iplayer I can't get the ITV player.
I have no idea if Sky boxes will do the iplayer on a Sky HD or even your Sky box.
As regards you asking about aerials I'm wondering if you do in fact have Sky as this comes from satellites and a dish is used.

Hi David. yes I do have a dish, I use a simple freesat box in the kitchen and an old Sky box in the sitting room. No I can't get iplayer on the old sky box or the simple freesat box, so I know I have to upgrade. I seem to be getting the message that I have to have two feed from the dish to run HD and a feed from the router for iplayer. Is that correct? BUT, can I use a HD box with my old analog TV?

Sounds to me you you would replace the Sky SD box with a Freesat HD box and connect that as the Sky box is to your old TV set and add a BB connect to the new box. I do not know if the Freesat HD would have a scart output that I assume you connect by now though, you would have to look before purchase.
I imagine on the HD channels you would see no improvement in quaulity.
Realy you should consider a new HD TV set with Freesat HD built in or Freeview HD built in and check before purchase it will get the iplayers.

Scuse my ignorance, but what is a BB connect?
freeview is no good to me as I don't have a freeview arial, but I do have a satellite dish that connects to my equipment so I might as well continue to use that. I don't want to get rid of a perfectly good television but I do want either play back or iplayer without having to pre record everything if I can find a way to do it.

Hi, I've been reading up the back posts and think you all seem to be implying that if I buy a freesat HD box I will be able to get iplayer. Is that correct?
Also, I need to know, do I need two coaxial lines from the dish or will one do the job?

Yes Freesat do broadcast the BBC iPlayer and a HD Freesat TV or box is required.
You would have to check before purchase the the particular TV or box will actualy do it.
Other question to be asked would be what about ITV Player and CH4 and Five ONDemand.

If viewing Iplayer over Freesat (via 500Gb Humax box) will I still use up my monthly 10 or 20Gb allowance in my broadband/phone package??

My Panasonic Freesat TV needs to be connected to the Internet for it to work so I guess your BB allowence will be used.
Think all that Freesat do is give the Selection screen and program comes via the Internet. As I'm with Be and unlimited and fast I have no worries.

David

I am in France, my freesat box is programmed with a UK postcode will BBC iplayer work through using UK postcode of box or ip address of router? i.e., will it work on freesat whereas it won't on PC because non UK IP addresses are blocked by BBC.
