Fror the last weeks or so I have been unable to receive channels on multiplexes COM5 and COM6, whereas previously I could. Either I get no signal at all on the affected channels, or the picture suffers from "blocking" or worse. Retuning my tv and two hard-disc recorders makes no difference. My postcode is CT4 5PR, and I receive my signals from the Dover transmitter. I have a wide-band aerial installed in my loft, which has worked fine up until the onset of these problems. From persusing your website it would appear that my problems may be caused by two-frequency interference. Can your please give me some advice as to how I can rectify this situation, please! Many thanks.

Your problem is highly unlikely to be two-frequency interference (or any interference) although some predictions show you might possibly get some weather related interference later on Tuesday!
On the Dover transmitter page it does advise about Planned Engineering taking place (last week and it continues this week) and it has done for some recent weeks - Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 01/11/2021 Possible Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels.
The predicted reception for your Locale is variable for COM5 (also COM4) which won't be helped at all by the engineering!
It's never advised to retune when you have No signal or badly pixellated pictures. It will often just clear the correct tuning that you had, and you'll have to repeat the retune when signals are better or return (might need several tries).
It is possible that you may pick up other transmitters off the back of your aerial, so -
Check in your TV's tuning section that you are correctly tuned for the UHF channels for Dover which are -
C33, C35, C36, C39, C42 & C48
That's in multiplex order PSB1/BBC A, PSB2/D3&4, PSB3/BBCB HD, COM4/SDN, COM5/ArqA, COM6/ArqB,
If you don't have an HD tuner, ignore C36.

Hi, assuming your aerial is pointing ~NNW (bearing 337 degrees) with the rods (or squashed Xs) horizontal then you'd be getting signals from the Divis transmitter.
Do check that your aerial seems intact and hasn't been disturbed and that your downlead looks undamaged and hasn't been chewed up by vermin etc.
Also check all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, especially if you've altered anything around in your system, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. Flyleads can be a common problem, try swapping them.
The RTE1, RTE 2 and TG4 channels are on the NI multiplex.
Divis multiplexes are PSB1/BBCA, PSB2/D3&4, PSB3/BBCB HD, COM4/SDN, COM5/ArqA, COM6/ArqB, Local Belfast mux and the NI mux.
These are on UHF channels C27, C21, C24, C23, C26, C30, C36 and C48 in that multiplex order.
The Divis transmitter has been on Planned Engineering this week which may account for the disappearance of signals, they aren't normally weak or off-air for that long. Whilst the reception predictors don't suggest you might pick up this NI multiplex - it's very low power, as you are only 4km from the transmitter, I'd be surprised if you don't get a signal.
It's never advised to do a retune when you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures as this often just clears the correct tuning and you can also end up incorrectly tuned to weak signals from another transmitter.
I would do a Manual (not auto) tune for UHF channel 48 - you may have to try several times if the multiplex isn't back on air. Also check you are still correctly tuned to the other UHF channels for Divis.
See what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section, this might indicate potential issues with your aerial or downlead or other connections.

Only seeing this reply.
Thanks for getting back. If this doesn't work is there a free view HD box that I can buy that will get these channels?
Thanks in advance

If there is transmitter work going on, or possibly if the feed to the transmitter has been disrupted by the weather, or if your aerial system has developed a fault, then NO different box or TV set is going to make any difference.
(I assume you haven't changed your TV set since the loss?).
Have you check the signal strength and quality in your TV tuning section for the other multiplexes (and you are tuned to the correct ones)?
Have you tried a manual retune for UHF channel 48?

Hi Chris,
Thanks again for getting back. I haven't changed the tv.
I've tried a manual retune but no luck. When selecting c48 for manual tune the signal bar shows nothing at all.
Apologies but not the most technically gifted but how do you check other multiplexes? And what are the right ones?
Thanks in advance
Anthony
