I have now lost all signal can you tell me what the problem might be?
The problem could be one of:
- the aerial has been moved or damaged;
- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;
- the digibox has broken.
If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Hi,
Over the last four weeks or so I have had signal problems not only on free view but BBC and Itv. During the week I cannot get any TV at all, I am usually only in after 16.00hrs, whereas week ends seems to be ok for a few hours then disappears. Tried rescanning but that only makes it worse. My post code is S44 5BT. I think the signal normally comes from Emeley Moor

Phil Hodgkiss:
Just to be clear "Freeview" is the whole platform of Digital TV you get through an aerial ;)
IIRC there was some planned engineering at Emley Moor a while ago, but there've been no faults or engineering reported in the last 5 days. Retuning when you have lost signal and not been prompted by on screen messages is usually not a good idea as it clears correctly tuned channels.
I think the first thing to check is that you are getting your signals from Emley Moor as according to the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker that is your most likely transmitter with Belmont a close 2nd with the exception of the temporary HD muxes COMs 7&8.
From your location for Emley Moor your aerial should be pointing 333 degrees (approx. NNW). If it's Belmont then it should be 80 degrees (a fraction N of due E). The aerial rods should be horizontal for both these. Also note Belmont does have planned engineering this week with "Possible weak signal".
There are also some more local transmitters in pretty much the same direction as Emley Moor, but require the aerial rods vertical (they are Sheffield and Chesterfield) not that it will necessarily mean you don't inadvertently pick up a signal from them, but neither is predicted to give good reliable reception of all 6 multiplexes.
If you happened to retune at the "wrong" time you may be incorrectly tuned to one of the weaker transmitters, but before dealing with that, I think it's worth checking all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc. Unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. Also check that your downlead looks undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.
Problematic connections, faulty flyleads, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.
If all that seems OK, unplug the aerial and do an automatic tune, this should clear the set of any stored channels. Now reconnect the aerial and again do an automatic retune. Hopefully this will restore all the correct multiplexes and channels.
If you still have problems after that, post back with as much detail as possible about your aerial installation and exactly which LCNs (programme channels) you are getting.

First, they was a major retune event in the region on the 13th, did none of you see pop-up messages on screen advising you to retune? Also see 13 Nov 2019 - Changes to the Freeview channel line-up in the Fenham area | Freeview as you no longer have COMs 7&8 from Fenham. But also you now have a Local multiplex on UHF channel 36 which you should pick up with your retune giving a local station at LCN7 and some extra Sony channels as well.
(Note COMs 7&8 are available still at Pontop Pike transmitter).
All transmissions should now be working normally.
2nd, you should not post your phone number in a public forum, you leave yourself vulnerable to spam calls and con-artists of which some may say things like there's be fraud on your bank account, we've created a new account for you if you transfer your money here now, there won't be any further problems. Your Bank will NEVER do that, if they ever have to create a new account for you, you do not have to do any transfers yourself they will have done it. Never agree to transfer or pay any money or give bank card details to anyone that has rung you. You only do that when you have called a company you know to pay your bill !

I live in TF4 2JW and at present I am using The Wrekin Transmitter for Freeview. However this transmitter does not have the full compliment of Freeview channels on it and therefore I am pondering replacing my aerial and swinging it on to Winter Hill to enable me to watch all Freeview channels.
I do not have line of site with Sutton Coldfield but possibly have from Winter Hill.
Can you suggest an aerial and the compass point to aim for from my location.

Bear in mind two things - it's a different region (Granada for news & some ads, not Central), and the COMs 7&8 multiplexes are only temporary although we don't expect them to close before 2022, nothing has been finalised so it's speculation at present. We may have a better idea early part of next year after the 700MHz band has been auctioned!
Otherwise, you'll need a high gain wideband aerial mounted externally, pointing virtually due N (358 degrees) whereas the Wrekin is 265 degrees (5 degrees S of W). Even though the transmitter is 106km away, you are predicted by Freeview to get good reception of the 8 multiplexes.
FYI the prediction for Sutton Coldfield gives good reception for PSBs 1-3, no reception of COMs 4-6, and very variable for COMs 7&8!
I would leave the aerial for the Wrekin up, or maybe put it in the loft depending on your chimney & location etc., then you'd have a choice of regions. You'd have to tune your "secondary" transmitter first and move the regional channels you want to different LCNs in the 800s, and then manually tune the UHF channels for your primary region.

For anyone to assist you we need you to provide a full post code. On;y then can we determine which of the over 1100 transmitters in the UK is the most suitab;e to your location.
Indoor aerials are poor and do not give reliable reception. It would be better to have an aerial fitted externally, usually mounted on a chimney stanck or a pole monted on the brickwork.
