No, I am afraid not. You will need to have your dish pointing at the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2°E to receive the German services. The UK services are on the Astra/Hotbird satellites at 28.2°E

You will need a dish pointed at the Hot Bird 2 at 13.0°E satellite to get Italian channels such as:

RAI Uno, RAI Due, RAI Tre, RAI Med, Canale Lavoro, RAI Edu 1, RAI Mosaico, RAI News 24, Camera dei Deputati, TelePace, RAI Sport Satellite, RAI Nettuno Sat Due, RAI Edu 2, RAI Nettuno Sat Uno, Sat 2000, Italia 1, Canale 5, Rete 4 and Senato Italiano.

Listing for RAI channels can be found RAI TV listings.

Vale: You can fit a "dual arm" to a satellite dish to do this, but it a rather tricky thing to do.

Also, you can't use two clusters with a Freesat box.

You might find the best thing to do is to fit a second dish and use this with a "generic" Freesat receiver. You can get such systems from places like Maplins, and I have seen them in B&Q.

paul: Not easily. The "add channels" feature on the Sky box is awful and not really suited for this. There is a limit of 20 channels.

If you want to view non-UK channels, you will find this easier with a "generic" satellite receiver.

suz: You will need a dish pointing at the correct satellite cluster and a suitable receiver box and subscription.

I have just had my old satellite dish replaced after the old one rusted away. I was using it to watch German TV channels. The replacement dish (same size as its predecessor) and LNB are picking up a signal from the Astra satellite at 19.2E but I am only getting UK TV stations - no German channels.Where am I going wrong? Could it be an unsuitable LNB? FYI,I am using a Technomate 1000D receiver. Can you assist?

Hi joe,

If the uk channels you are getting include bbc 1 & itv 1 then your dish is pointing at astra 2 at 28.2e & not astra 1 at 19.2e

Hi there, I have a 2.4 meter dish with Humax HD receiver and get most of the FreeSat channels however I have been offered a receiver that when connected to dish and the internet will receive all the Sky Channels (Sports and Films). Is this legal and how does it work?

Hi Pat,

No its not legal its probably some kind of card sharing if it requires internet connection, these work quite well as long as the people behind it dont get busted.

Be carefull who you give credit card details to & try to use something like paypal if you do this so no bandits get your card details, if they dont want payment & class the service as a gift then only enter into this if you can afford to lose the cost of the equipment & fitting because if the service goes down the equipment is not much use.
Its a risk & the choice is yours.
