What price for an aerial installation?
In responses to the guideline I posted about how much having a new aerial fitted should cost, Ian Grice posted: "£40-£50? Every aerial fitter I contacted wants at least £150+VAT considering you can get a class 3 aerial for under £10 and a class 2 for under £15 and cable is 40p a metre why are they charging so much for 30 minutes work?"
OK, for some places putting up a TV aerial is hard work, such as multi-story properties. As many people will simply be exchanging a Group A, B, C/D, E or K aerial for a wideband type, often without changing the supporting pole or cable, a high price cannot be justified.
I am concerned that some companies will exploit vulnerable groups (such as the elderly).
So, I what prices have you been quoted for aerial installations? What price have you paid for installation?
Do you know of any companies to avoid? Do you know of any companies that are good value for money?
Or do you work for a great aerial installation company?

Devizes
sibryz: I run my own Aerial & Satellite Co in Wiltshire ( Blake Satellite & Aerials ) .
I am getting "PassedOff " by a local cowboy who has no experience and very little knowledge in this field of work. He has his own Co name : Aerials & Vision - has anybody heard any comments about this Co ?
He mainly operates in Devizes. Anyone with any feedback about him please submit it on here.

That price doesn't seem unreasonable assuming they have used good quality materials and completed the install well.
I guess you was advised the price before work started?
if so then you cannot really question the price as you was happy to proceed on that basis.
:)

Phil: I don't know, but if I were you I'd be looking to SEO my website.
I put <<tv aerial devizes>> and <<tv aerial installation devizes>> and your website is nowhere to be seen. You have a listing on FreeIndex for which you have some reviews. Add the FreeIndex widget to your website to showcase those reviews.

Dave Lindsay:
I have problems receiving BBc1 and ITV1 from the mendip transmitter, I'm in Yeovil and have just put up a new aeriel and getting a signal of 60 dB uV on the meter.
All other channels are fine.
On the TV channel signal meter shows 100% on all channels except BBC1 & ITV 1 which are 0%
Whats happening?

Julian: There's something odd here and which would seem not to have anything to do with your aerial. The reason for this is that digital signals are "multiplexes" which carry multiple services. So all BBC standard definition TV and radio are carried on a single mux (multiplex). Thus if you have one you must have them all.
Check that BBC One is tuned to UHF channel 49 and same goes for BBC Two, by viewing the signal strength screen.

Yeovil
Julian:
I can't see any ch. 49 info on my Signal info page on the Tv.
Samsung Tv shows:
Freq.
service ID
Mutliplex
Network
But no ch. info
I get all other BBC channels ok, including HD ones.
I have the same problem with both my samsung TVs.
i assumed it was the ariel so put a new one up today, so could it be a tuning problem.
TIA
