your location would be a perfect start to see if the local transmitter has any issues

the picture you have show is definitely Virgin Media Fibre, this will be of no use to you, virgin has had fibre capability forever and just not utilised it until the last 10 years , I am an ex virgin media installer and know the system inside out, their cabling has always been underground cabling and the internet has never come via a dish or telephone line hence its a CABLE company and not SATELLITE company. there 2 types of satellite dishes, one is for TV and the other is for TWOWAY broadband, which is a new system, so I can only imagine that your dish is for TV. if it is point to Astra 28.2 this is used for sky and freesat, if it is a large dish that what sky use then the chances are it has been setup for a foreign tv satellite.

with no engineering works this means you have a problem with your system. It has either developed a fault, maybe a faulty part or ageing system OR your system strength and quality is marginal rather than good, marginal systems will generally work well most of the year but can become more problematic over time especially in hot weather.

HI Bill,
I recently went to a customers house with the same issue, at first the HD has breakup issues, but then disappeared even though they picked up all the channels on a retune, I found the channels located in the 800's rather than 101, 102 etc, whilst watching the channels they then disappeared again and moved to the correct channels numbers. With a full aerial system test showing everything was working correctly the customer sent the tv back, they now have a new one and all is working well.
just like yours, their tv was a Samsung. one of the better brands at the moment, but with all electronics you can have issues.

Only if in your current location you can access ASTRA 28.2 which is the satellite that is used for both SKY and FREESAT
the box is designed to work on the satellite so it doesn't matter what country you are in, you just need to be able to get the signal from the correct satellite.

the talk talk box will give you access to any addition programs which you subscribe to, it is also a PVR which will enable you to pause, rewind and forward live tv and also allow you to record programs via series link or onetime record, all recordings will be saved onto the youview box, you can also record one channel whilst viewing another.

you may have a marginal signal at your home.
this would mean you are subject to potential issues, some tuners and brands perform better than others, for example a Sony has a great tuner and generally will work fine even with a poor reception, you could then put a different brand on the same connection and have nothing but problems.

the dish would never have been for virgin fibre optic, the dish will only have been for sky.
you can connect a sky box to it but will receive limited channels unless the sky box is on someone's account receive a channel package
if you connect a Freesat box you will receive many more channels.
