Sorry also forgot to add that sometimes it can take a while on this site for posts to appear, so hold on somewhat before trying to post again (I tend to take a copy of what I'm about to post if it's quite lengthy just in case the post fails and I have to repeat it). The site also eventually removes duplicate posts!

Thanks Chris....yes, I did notice my duplicate post but that was because I again received the previously posted page of errors...I have tried 3 different browsers!!
There are no new 4G or mobile masts around - in fact there are no masts around for miles as we live in the middle of nowhere :) - IP23 8LP and served of course from Tacolneston -have tried Sudbury but Taccy was way better
Thanks for your tip about turning the gain down - I do have a 4 way distribution amp and am aware of problems caused by overloading etc...ALL the other muxes are absolutely fine, when I installed it many years ago I turned the gain down until the strength read 90% then tweaked it up gradually until it was just at 100....I have bypassed the amp completely and connected only the lounge TV which dropped the signal to around 80% on all the other muxes but COM7 dropped to the point where I couldnt receive any channels
I have a Televes DAT 75 aerial in bypass - i.e. without the PSU conected at all as it wasnt needed after full DTTV switchover (before full DTTV we could just about pick up channel 5 with it powered !

...I wonder if it's worth re-powering the MRD in the aerial and attenuating the signal before it goes into the 4 way distribution amp.....I believe the MRD is "supposed" to adjust to the required gain on various channels to boost where required and also prevent overload.....hmmm....might give it a go tomorrow

Yes, Sudbury is further away from your postcode, and the Freeview Coverage Checker predicts poorer coverage from it. "Taccy" is very good, even COM7 is supposedly "quite good". You certainly took the right approach adjusting the gain of your amp/splitter.
Well if it's an easy thing to do for you - activating the MRD, especially when you consider what's claimed for the aerial, then why not? Have you got a variable attenuator or would you just rely on some fixed ones?
Whatever the outcome, I wouldn't rush to definitive conclusions for several days to give things time to "settle down" - ie. weather and any ongoing engineering.

...about to re-power the mrd I checked the signal and it has returned to 100% quality and 94% strength which is as it has always been......hmmmm....wonder if it will last???

Hmm, indeed! It will of course depend on that big unknown, was there some unlisted engineering continuing that was the cause, or was it weather related? There's still some "tropo" lurking about which might affect you over the next 24hrs or so.
