As you probably know, there is Planned Engineering work listed this week at Tacolneston, but I don't believe that the SDL multiplex is transmitted from Tacolneston unless it's been very very recently added, so this is unlikely to be what's affecting things. I'd have thought you are more likely to be getting it from the Stoke Holy Cross transmitter just to the SSE of Norwich as that multiplex isn't listed as transmitted from the Caister relay. What the predicted reception is gong to be like for your locale is uncertain, it could be marginal.
As you also probably know, it's like trying to get blood out of a stone to get any detailed information about the engineering work on the commercial multiplexes, you could try contacting Arqiva.
If all your other stations on the SDL multiplex are fine, you could try retuning to see if that solves it, otherwise it'll be a wait for them to sort the problem.

The transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering so you may well see periodic reductions in power or service interruptions whilst the work is being carried out. Do not retune in those circumstances.

Although there were some odd problems with email updates a while ago, mine (weekly) have been working recently.
The system may not be correctly recognising each of your posts as being from the same person as the cumulative post count for you doesn't seem to be correctly updating.
Try checking that your details are correctly entered in the system using the Mail Icon at the top RHS of the page and that it's the identical email address and name in the boxes etc when you post.

still having major problems with COM7 channels...the signal strength remains reasonable at around 70% but the quality is varying between 100 and 38% which is clearly the problem.....but what is the cause???.....ALL other muxes are received at 100% signal and 100% quality with no variance at all

Tacolneston was listed for Planned Engineering for 3 weeks in July. We don't know what the work was, but from information that is appearing in various places, there's a possibility it was in preparation for some 700MHz Mobile equipment. Work may have still been going on despite not being listed, the lists haven't been that accurate of late!
Just to complicate matters further, some Tropospheric Ducting has appeared in some places causing interference from other transmitters. Some predictions are showing this could get worse for a few days as the week progresses. But that will depend of whether the current weather forecasts change in any way which might have a significant effect on that.
However, if there are any new 700MHz mobile transmissions near you (do you have any mobile masts within say a couple of hundred metres) that could be deafening your receiver a bit. I note from your post that you have 100% signal, do you have an amp/distribution system? If so, if the amp has a gain control, turn it down a bit until the other mux signals just start to drop from 100% to make sure you aren't overloading the front ends anywhere. See if that has any effect on COM7 quality.
If you have a mobile phone that covers the 700MHz band, you might be able to get it to scan to see if there are any strong transmissions in the band.
