Tacolnston is not the best transmitter for you to use in Great Yarmouth. There is a Freeview light transmitter that will give better and more reliable reception - but with a limited range of services. See About us | Freeview for more details.

Whilst MikeP is correct in what he says, you are nevertheless not too far from the Tacolneston transmitter BUT it depends/could depend on the house number for your address. MikeP's search looks at results for no:1 in your road, whereas a general search for prediction reception at your postcode About us | Freeview gives much more optimistic results.

Whilst the predicted results for ITV/C4 channels (D3&4 multiplex) are marginally better than BBC multiplexes, I'm surprised you aren't getting BBC channels.
Your aerial should be pointing roughly slightly W of NW (254deg.) with the rods horizontal. If its and old Group B aerial you may struggle a bit with the COMs 7&8 multiplexes. Ideally you need a Group T /Wideband.

I would check all you coax plugs. connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. See what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section.

ITV channels having poor reception in Hempnall, BBC all OK. Thought that it was our old TV box, but newer bedroom TV also having problems with reception.
Can a booster box be selective, or is the weather or leaves wrong at present?
Or has the mast having problems?

There is Planned Engineering this week at Tacolneston with "Possible weak signal". So this is probably the problem you are seeing.

With a roof aerial, a new smart tv and having retuned, all channels
are fine except Sony channels 48 and 50 which have persistent sound and missed
picture block problems.
Is this an aerial problem?
We are in Great Moulton quite close to Tacolneston.

Chris Wright:

Without a full post code we have no idea just how close you might be to the transmitter. If you are quite close, then you may have too much signal and that can cause many problems. So please check what the reported signal strengths are, especially on the channels giving you problems. Ideally you want between 60% and 85%. Less will cause drop outs whilst more will give unreliable reception. If the signal is too strong you can add an attenuator into the aerial cable to reduce the signal.

Chris Wright:

As MikeP says we need a full postcode to look at what Freeview are giving as your predicted reception. With a new (different) TV, the tuner sensitivity may be more or less than your previous set. Whilst too strong a signal is a possibility, too weak a signal is also possible.

LCNs 48 & 50 are now transmitted on Local multiplexes which are transmitted at lower power than the others. As you haven't said you are having problems with other multiplexes, I'm wondering that because the Local multiplex is not radiated in your direction it's possible it could be too weak a signal.
There's also the Local station at LCN7, Sony Movies+1 at LCN60 & TinyPop at LCN207 - are you getting the same problem with those? Did you get the Local station before with your previous set?
Do you still have the other set, is it showing the same problem?

If you can post back with that postcode and the current signal strengths and quality from your TV's tuning section for each multiplex - I wouldn't worry too much about what the exact values are at present, each model of set can be different, they are fairly arbitrary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
