The Pontardawe transmitter map shows the location of the Alltwen transmitter and vice versa ( Alltwen is nearest to Rhos )

Those postions/names are correct according to the official OFCOM document I've just looked at (apart from a very very tiny error in the number of seconds longitude).
There's probably some historical reason why they are named this way round.
Ah, as I write I've found that "Pontardawe" was the original IBA site that transmitted analogue signals and was opened on 26th September 1975.
The Alltwen transmitter built by the BBC & IBA entered service on the 10th March 1989 according to a BBC document. The radiation pattern and area it's intended to cover probably has significance in the naming.
