Steve: The best first step is to try doing a "first time scan" with the two television sets connected directly to the rooftop aerial. A 1 year old device shouldn't have any problems at all.

Hi,
We're in Oxford, OX3 at the top of the hill and not far from Beckley transmitter. We had great terrestrial reception (din't actually need an aerial at all!) and reasonable digital reception through an indoor area (at roof height on top of the wardrobe). We couldn't get ITV very well so we switched to terrestrial for that.
At the first stage of switchover, most of the BBC channels disappeared, then 2 weeks later at the second stage, BBC4 and Sky news also disappeared - leaving us with just Yesterday, Al Jazeera and some home shopping channels!! We've retuned many times, with and without the aerial connected, new installation option, tried removing power etc as advised but haven't got the BBC channels back (I think we got ITV4 - why 4 ? What happened to ITV1, 2 and 3?)
We have another TV downstairs connected to an external aerial and that is fine, so I presume it's not an issue with the signal being too strong.
Is it worth buying another indoor aerial to try? We are so disappointed - we thought things would improve not get worse!
Or do we need a second outdoor aerial to run a second TV?
Any help much appreciated

Hi Cathy
1st of all have you tried moving the tv from upstairs to downstairs and doing a re-tune. If all channels appear then you know it's a problem with upstairs signal.
Then figure out how the signal goes upstairs. If there is a booster take it out you will not need it in ox3
I work round headington all the time and a lot of people are having problems just because they are not retuning properly or because the signal power has increased
I hope all goes well

lisa steward: No reported faults, and you should have a strong signal.
It is possible to have TOO STRONG a signal. Are you using any amplifier? Try without if so.
You could phone a LOCAL aerial fitter, who would know any local issue

Hi Lisa: as Steve P has already said you may have too strong a signal and should take any booster/amplifier out of circuit.
But the other thing you ought to do is a complete new installation/factory reset first with the aerial unplugged - this clears ALL previous settings, & then repeat that with the aerial plugged in.
If you and your neighbours are in a block of flats using a communial aerial you will probably need to get onto the landlords to get it sorted.
