Mark: The PSB2 you are receiving, it is definately on C30? And it is definately the Northern Ireland regional variant (which it will be if it has UTV and U105). Across England, Wales and some of Scotland it is "ITV1".
This is very odd because Limavady's PSB2 is, as you say, on C59 and also C30 does not appear to be used in NI.

yes channel 30. utv and plus 1 and u 105.my aerial is pointing north towards malin, always received from malin. not limavady.
we received are analogue british channels from a locally run deflector at malin prior to switchover which is why i wasnt expecting uk freeview after dso.
In carndonagh we always received a strong bounced analogue signal of limavady off a local hill on, ch 55, 59 etc with are aerials pointed at malin. the sound quality was perfect, but the picture was like 2 pictures on top of each other out of alignment(not watchable).
Do you think this could be a bounced digital signal?

utv ch 30, ch 4 on 34, bbc 1 on ch 36 an bbc 2 on 38 for analogue from malin, prob was illegal.

Mark: UTV analogue was on C59 from Limavady so maybe it is the same deflector.
BBC Two and Channel 4 (analogue) were on C62 and C65 respectively, but as the 60s have been cleared for use by 4G mobile services, the digital channels don't use them.
The other one was BBC One which was on C55 but this is now the HD multiplex which uses the DVB-T2 standard which isn't used in Ireland. I guess that if you have a Saorview receiver it probably won't be able to receive DVB-T2 signals.

Mark: Holywell Hill's Saorview is broadcast on channel 30, are you sure it's not that you are thinking about? If you go to UTV then to the manual retune option in the menu, what channel number comes up?

ian blackadder: I think you might. Can you not see the Moville transmitter mast across the water on a clear day?
Limavady is at 238 degrees and Moville is at 283 degrees. This means that there is a difference of 45 degrees. I'm not sure whether you will be able to point an aerial somewhere inbetween the two.
The Digital UK predictor suggests that you will have excellent reception from Limavady and I assume the same to be true of Moville if you can see it. Therefore a grid aerial will be suitable if your current aerial doesn't work. Grid aerials have less gain, but greater angle of acceptance.
The channels/frequencies used by Limavady and Moville won't allow two aerials to combined using a diplexer, which is the best way.
Moville is broadcasting on UHF channel 45, so if your TV has a manual tuning function then see if you can pick it up.
Failing that, if you can receive from Divis instead of Limavady, then you could combine an aerial on it and one on Moville. The aerial on Limavady should be suitable for use with Moville.

ian blackadder: One other thing. Saorview, as broadcast by Moville, may not be compatible with your Freeview receiver. Freeview HD receivers will definately work, but not all standard definition ones have the ability to show the picture format used by Saorview.

Re tuned today Portrush. prior to DSO Malin Saorview signal was better than Moville on Triax box, Now Moville signal superior as power has increased.Now no picture sound sync problems as encountered previously.
