Thanks MikeP. Good idea. I'll wait a bit and see if he sees this thread, if not I'll try and prompt him direct when the holidays are over.
FWIW there are nine standard channel groups under the new plan, each consisting of three UHF channels. Two of these new groups are 32/34/35 and 33/36/48. That's where the reference to "channels in the range 32-36, along with 48" comes from. So each 6 MUX main station will be allocated two of these new groups, although there are of course certain sites where other UHF channels have to be "borrowed", for example where one of the channels in a standard group is subject to interference from the continent.

In recent times I have found that the ability to search the OFCOM website for useful information has markedly reduced. Maybe this is part of some government policy to limit the information that can be discovered by us mere plebs. Whilst I will admit my search efforts have not been totally exhaustive, on this occasion I have been unable to locate any current documents on the OFCOM site that refer to channel allocation!! Nor can I find anything on Arqiva's site.
Briantist: perhaps you'd be kind enough to clear this up for us, and if possible, links to any relevant documents.

Found I've had poor signals on freeview channels 17 etc recently.
Have recently lost channel 17
Have completely lost all the ITV and CH4 channels tonight - most annoying, 1/4 way through Endevour!
Has the power been reduced?
BBC channels fine!

Andy: Check your system/signal strength - it sounds like your losing muxes, and thats a classic sign of loose connections, etc.
No, transmitters dont suddenly go to low power, unless there is work being done on them, and thats for only very brief periods.

I've been having reception problems from Mendip all weekend in WSM, both on the ITV (D3+4) mux and on the BBC 4 (COM7) Mux.
BBCA and BBCB Mux appear to be unaffected, not sure about the others.
I can't find any faults listed online yet, could it be the weather conditions causing co-channel interference?

there are no reported problems with the Mendip transmitter. If there were several hundreds of thousands of people would be complaining.
It is more likely that your system has some poor connections in the aerial feed to the equipment. Start by checking that all the aerial connectors are pushed in correctly and have no corrosion (simply take the aerial plugs out, check they are tight on the cable and then re-insert them in the socket they came from).

I have a 15 cm lap top ariel that is magnetic so i stick it on my radiator in my room I have found the sweat spot that gives me all channels for days then suddenly, randomly, i lose channels. Is this due to atmospheric conditions from mendip to kingswood bristol? or a problem with interference or do you change the signal strength daily??

Greg Harper: If you need to get your indoor aerial in a certain spot for it to work then you probably only just have enough signal. Any slight change in reception conditions can cause the signal level to drop below the point where enough is being received to decode the channels being broadcast. Transmitter signal strength is kept at the same level unless there are engineering works taking place, it doesn't vary each day/week.
