George Lindsay: I haven HD Ready 19 inch TV with inbuilt Freeview. Do I need a Freeview HD box in order to receive the HD programmes? Thanks

To Jack Cannon. You may well have been hit by the Freeview 2k vs 8k problem - see
TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
If you have a 2k box you will need to upgrade to an 8k one after switchover (KY138BF)

George Lindsay: Yes. Only equipment which supports DVB-T2 is able to receive Freeview HD transmissions. "HD Ready" means able to display an HD picture when connected (via an HDMI lead)to an HD source such as a Blu-ray player, Freeview HD, SkyHD, Freesat HD or Virgin Media HD box.

Jack Cannon: Most likely you have too much signal. If you have a booster or amplifier, you should remove it. If that doesn't help, add an attenuator.
Since you were able to receive the BBC channels before last night, your box must be able to handle 8K mode.

Jack Cannon: though at that postcode, Digital UK reckon Tay Bridge, Angus or Craigkelly are better options than the Kinross relay (which the predictor doesn't even list). Can you confirm which transmitter you're using?
Angus is your best bet for a six-multiplex service. Craigkelly will provide a service from late 2012 (possibly after Tyne Tees switches over?) but it's expected to be poor on two of the commercial multiplexes and variable on the other. Black Hill is expected to provide a good PSB service from next week, but no prediction is shown for the commercial multiplexes.

Mike Dimmick: Certainly do not have too much signal, only 60db at best at the amast amplifier. Only option I have due to landscape and trees is the Kinross transmitter. Have tried all other options, including a dish, to no avail.
Tried retuning again last night, after disconnecting and reconnecting everything, and it found all the channels, so now up and running. Signal still a bit weak, as picture breaking up occassionally, so don't know what it will be like come winter.
