Re: Dave Lindsay / DMOL Post-DSO Multiplex Channel Allocations

I see that the Channel Islands get ITV 3 (On PSB 2) as well as ALL the other channels that England gets.
Is the PSB 2 bandwidth wider in the Channel Islands, or are some of the channels at a lower resolution?
Or is there some wasted space in Englands PSB 2 transmission?

Mark Agius: The Channel Islands' transmitters are PSB-only. Only the three PSB tables on that page have a "CI" column, the rightmost in the COMs is "NI".

ITV3 is carried on PSB2 on the Channel Islands because there is no +1 variant for ITV Channel Television.

I imagine that the services that PSB2 carry are decided on the basis of which is likely to yield the most revenue from advertisers. So I guess that ITV1+1 and ITV2+1 are seen as more lucrative than ITV3 and ITV4, for example.

Does anyone know why after 3 weeks of good running, my TV is now scrambling Viva, 4Music, ITV4 and other channels? I'm in Haywards Heath.

I live in Lindfield just outside H Heath. I originally lined up my aerial with Heathfield to get a signal. After the switch over signal improved but we still get drop outs. Should I turn the aerial round to H Heath now it is on line?

graham : You could do, although it only broadcasts PSB channels. Thus, if the drop-outs affect only the COMs then you will be no better off.

For a full list of Freeview channels, including which are PSB and which are COM, see:

DTG :: DTT Services by Multiplex

The difficulty with Heathfield would appear to be the high ground in and around Awbrook. There are also a lot of trees around, including some which appear to be in the way of HH transmitter for some houses. This perhaps explains the use of higher gain aerials on some houses for HH.

If your HH aerial is a Group B one (yellow tip), then this is suitable for Heathfield, albeit that perhaps you need a higher gain one. Or then again, maybe it needs mounting higher up.

See:

Aerials, TV Aerial and Digital Aerial

Prior to switchover, Heathfield used Group C/D channels but now the COMs are below C/D and a B aerial should be used in cases where a Group aerial is used.

See here for more information about Heathfield:

graham: Check that your TV/box is tuned to the correct transmitter and that you aren't unwittingly watching the signals from a different transmitter. View the signal strength screen and check that the following are tuned to the right UHF channel:

BBC One C52
ITV1 C49
BBC One HD C47
ITV3 C42
Pick TV C44
Film4 C41

Haywards Heath's are 45, 46 and 43.

Sound OK, but no vision or vision breaking up on the H.D. channels and Film Four +1 (PSB3)
Haywards Heath relay, from or before 5:15pm and still not working at 6:45pm
PSB1 and PSB2 ok.
Don't know if problem is the Haywards Heath relay or Heathfield transmitter.

Similar to Mark A. All free view hd channels (bbc and channel 4 and 5) have interference and signal strength is around 50% where normally in the 90's according to by you view box. Affecting all tv's in the house not just one connect to you view.
