Graham.; jb38: The Ferryside transmitter is unique. It was the first transmitter to be converted to digital and carries PSB1, PSB2, PSB3 (HD) and COM4 (SDN). It is probably for this reason that this website has trouble showing it - because usually transmitters are either PSB-only or PSB+COMs 4, 5 and 6.

Dave Lindsay: Thanks for the update on this, as its something which I was totally unaware of including possibly DUK's (trade) reception prediction site, because after having read Graham's posting I carried out a reception check using SA17 5RN as a test code (Ferryside Post Office) and the SDN Mux was not listed, however I have just tried the test again using the same post code and low and behold it is now..

Hi
I live in Llanstephan which is opposite the Ferry Side mast which i can clearly see and i have an outside aerial but i was wandering if i could install a new internal aerial in the loft would the reception get better or worse as the roof if made of metal profile sheeting-

Jason Bray:
As your roof is made of metal, or metalised, sheeting TV signals will not pass through. So fitting an aerial inside the loft will get no signal, or be so attenuated as to be unusable. RF signals, like radio and TV, do not pass through metals. There is an article on Faraday cage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that explains why your idea would not work.

Imogen Clout: Since your post, a transmitter engineering notice has appeared for Ferryside stating that the transmitter is currently off air. This is likely due to a fault as there have been no recent notices of planned engineering work. Do not attempt to retune, just wait and your channels will return when the transmitter is fixed.

Imogen Clout: Hi,Imogen. To which signal do you refer...Freeview Television or Digital or Analogue Radio? Furthermore, we can only really assist you if you tell us your approximate location, for example by stating the first three or four characters of your postcode or by describing the location of a nearby shop, garage or community centre relative to a road which has a classification number or a street name.
Richard in Norwich.
