Fay Cooper: The post code mentioned is predicted as "not" being able to receive anything other than the Dartmouth relay.
However the channels / frequencies for both are as follows.
Dartmouth : C41 /634.2Mhz - C47 / 682.0Mhz - C44 (HD) / 658.0Mhz
Beacon Hill : C60 / 758.8Mhz - C53 / 730.2Mhz - C57 (HD) / 762.2Mhz - C42 /642.0 - C45 / 666.0Mhz - C51 / 714.0Mhz - C33 (HD) / 570.0Mhz.

Fay Cooper : In addition to that said. The Dartmouth Relay (<1mile) is located at an angle of 248 degrees, the transmitter aerial being vertically polarised.
On the other hand, Beacon Hill is located @ 7 miles / 343 degrees, the transmitter aerial in this case being horizontally polarised.

For two days now non-HD BBC channels from the Dartmouth TV transmitter have not been watchable because of picture breakup - presumably because the signal power has been dropped. Other channels are fine, but BBC1 and BBC2 in particular are dreadful. I have two aerials and several TVs and all are affected, as is my next door neighbour's system; we both have direct line of sight from Kingswear across the river to the mast.
This is a transmitter issue, not a receiver problem, yet (apparently) there has not been any engineering work that might have caused it, This needs to be fixed!

is their a problem with the Dartmouth repeater. I can only tune into channel 41 stations eg bbc 1, bbc2 bcc news etc. not able to receive channel 47 and channel 44 stations eg itv , film 4 etc.
I have retuned the TV set to scan for the missing channels it searches but only finds the channel 41 stations. I have replaced the indoor aerial and rescanned - same results.
the transmitter is approx. 1400 yards away in direct line of sight - any advice would be appreciated.

I'm in Kingswear. I see I cannot get Sky News from the Dartmouth Transmitter. Is there another way? Thanks.

John Horsman: Depending on exactly where in Kingswear you are located (we need a full postcode to be able to check) you might be able to get Sky News and many other commercial channels from the Beacon Hill transmitter. Otherwise look at getting Freesat, or if you're only interested in Sky News rather than having more channels in general and have a decent broadband connection, there is a live stream on the Sky News Youtube channel.
