Jonathan Evans-Baldwin : You have alluded to whether these TVs are all fed from the same aerial or whether they use separate aerials.

If they use the same aerial then presumably there is a powered amplifier. If this is the case and the Chagford transmitter is still on air then suspicion must fall on the amplifier; either it has failed or there is no power to it. The fact that the amplifier's light is on does not necessarily mean that it is functioning.

Jonathan Evans-Baldwin : It should also be noted that another person (Matthew Perkins) has also complained of zero reception from the Chagford transmitter on a posting made at 10.40PM yesterday, but as nothing as yet has been posted on the engineering pages this could suggest that problem might be with the mains power supply to the station rather than an actual transmitter fault as such.

Hi thanks for getting back to me so fast. I have checked the aerials in both places. Hotel and the house. They are both on different transmitters. But both don't work they are also brand new at the most 2 years old. I have spoken to other people around Chagford across a straight line. Only one place has signal but theirs has gone down from 100 percent to 50 from about 15 houses inc pubs

Jonathan Evans-Baldwin: Chagford is a relay of the parent Stockland Hill transmitter and so if anything was amiss at Stockland it would also affect the relay, however a check made a few minutes ago still gave a clear sheet as far as any faults being indicated are concerned, this of course being contrary to the result of your own enquiries.

However you could try a signal check for yourself on a TV connected into the aerial facing Stockland Hill, the station being located @ 33 miles / and with the aerial facing 75 degrees, easily identified as the elements on the aerial should be positioned horizontally for Stockland Hill whereas vertically for Chagford.

The signal check made by going into the TV / boxes tuning section / "manual tune" and entering mux Ch26 into the box (Stocklands BBC) but do NOT press search or scan, because if any signal is being received then its level should be indicated no matter how weak it might be.
