Since last Thursday 13th Jan 2011 we have not been able to get BBC 2 in Banbury . Everything was ok before the work was done on the Bretch Hill Transmitter on that date when we lost all channels for several hours. We are just on analogue service. I have retuned the TV but it does not find BBC 2. Apparently there was a power failure on Wed Night (19th Jan) in Bretch Hill and for that hour we had a clear picture on BBC 2. Any help would be appreciated

Mark: I'm a bit confused. How did your TV manage to scan for analogue channels and not find BBC TWO, and then show BBC TWO?

Sorry, my fault. When i say we didn't have BBC2 I mean we had sound but the picture had lines/snowy on it so was impossible to really see what was happening. Then when power went in bretch hill on Wed night we had a clear picture. Later that evening when power was restored in Bretch Hill area the picture was unviewable again. So yesterday i tried to retune but now it doesn't find BBc 2 at all. Hope that is clearer now. Thanks

I have had the same problem since the 13th BBC2 picture really fuzzy but does not seem to be weak signal. Am running of an amplified set top ariel as I can't get a signal on my freeview box since moving to Banbury. Like many posters have said previously need massive rooftop Arials and in a rented listed building that is probably not feasible. All other channels apart from bbc2 are crystal clear.

So does anyone know if we will ever get a clear picture back on BBC 2 again if we are just an analogue TV user? What hope have I got if the auto tuner on the TV can't even find BBC 2 any more? Any help appreciated

All Banbury residents having problems with Bretch Hill: go to BBC - Help receiving TV and radio and enter your postcode under 'Diagnose your problem'. Follow the wizard through, selecting the appropriate options: I picked 'Lost BBC Channels', 'Television', 'Analogue'. Once it lists the transmitters (and tells you there are no problems), select 'No' next to 'Did this answer your question', and it will take you to another page, where you can report the problem.
It could be that they've made a mistake in setting up the new equipment. This site and some others say that all channels are 87W but Ofcom's analogue transmitter page says it's supposed to be 348W for BBC Two, four times stronger (or 6dB). This could be to allow for the fact that channel 48 is used for a digital multiplex at the Oxford transmitter.
I don't know why a power cut would have corrected the problem temporarily, though, unless it cut off some other source of interference. (RG47SH)

I see that the Bretch Hill transmitter is announcing a reduced quality in BBC2 since yesterday. I have had a reduced quality for this channel for two weeks now. It is nice of them to catch up.
