We live on the east side of Bedford and listen to Radio Cambridgeshire on 96.00 FM.
The DAB signal is not good enough reception.
Recently the FM signal has started suddenly degrading in the mornings between 0800 and 0900.
Is work being carried out, and the power decreased, or is this freak atmospherics?

Mr K Kibblewhite: There is no work listed, but it could be a fault that is not showing up.

Why are most available stations in Cambridge broadcasting in poor quality 48Kbps MONO only?
A massive waste on my posh Yamaha HIFI that has TWO speakers and a two channel amp, with the STEREO DAB receiver. [matches having two ears that work independently] This is hardly a TECH upgrade as FM has been stereo since what, 1970something. Also, even scanning locally, there are still stations listed that are always OFF-LINE. -Smooth/Jazz- It's a sorry affair for a modern 'digital' world. Thankfully, I never upgraded the TV to digital, so I refuse to have one. [oh signal input IS 100%] Verdict:: embarrassingly poor.

Andrew: Because money rules the world today and mono means more stations, as does lower bit rate. Those who are more discerning, like yourself, will switch off. The objective of the broadcasters is to get as many channels in whilst ensuring that enough people listen.

Dave, Thanks for your fast reply.
Well, that's rubbish. In this day and age too.
So all shops and retail outlets that state and sell you using that statement of 'digital is the best thing ever' are actually lying, mis-selling goods and products. Why then have trading standards not become involved? So I spent nearly £500 on my hifi BECAUSE it will receive soooo many digital stations on "glorious digital" which as a fact will not as there are but only 3 stations of said quality available. So a false sale that continues to 'rip' people off. Oh, Rip-Off-Britain still at it's best. So sad. Very sad that people/public put up with rubbish and rip offs.

Have you any news of problems with the DAB signal in Cambridge this morning?
I think it would involve the Madingly 11C transmitter.
Thanks.

why is the D1 national coverage so much less than the others. I can listen to World Service in the car easily and then when i switch to UCB (say) I find it keeps breaking up. Are they going to remedy this?
